Lyfe Jennings - Haters

Last we saw Lyfe Jennings, he had just dropped his junior album, Lyfe Change, which earned the first 4.5-star, “Near-Classic” rating of ‘08 (and one of only five to date) from our resident album reviewer, Nathan S. Despite LC being the best-selling album of its release weekend (defeating sets by Lil’ Mama and Baby D), Lyfe parted ways with Columbia/Sony, ultimately finding distribution for his Jesus Swings label imprint and a home for his currently-untitled senior album at Warner Bros. The first leak off the forthcoming LP finds Lyfe expressing gratitude to all the Haters whose presence simply serves as evidence that he’s truly gone major. The combination of Lyfe’s gruff vocals and the Trackboyz’ spirited production is sure to please longtime fans and leave haters scratching their heads. Stay tuned to the Booth for further details on Jennings’ plans for summer ‘09—rest assured, we’ll have plenty to share!

Since there's no "near-classic" rating for tracks I'll rate it a Banger. This is more of what I love from Lyfe Jennings. Those soulful vocals mixed with smooth production and a catchy melody. The last album was fire, can't wait to hear the next.

This is a 4.5 but I'll round up. Lyfe can sing his ass off. His last album definitely deserved that 4.5 rating. Btw, can anyone recap me on what albums have gotten a 4.5 from the booth?

DEFINITELY FEELIN THIS! Love the vibe, the message, his vocals, and the production was tight. If "near-classic" was an option, I would probably go with that, but I'm gonna give this a 5. It was smooth and flawless.

Lyfe just has a soulful voice, always has, and always will. I dont know how ANYONE could hate on him, His vibe on every song sounds so sincere, But this song is reallyy laid back, I'm feelin the production, even though the synth is just weird soundin..

Hmm...Production is very "epic," for lack of a better word...perhaps grand would be a better word. Either way, it really doesn't matter, because I'm sorry, but I can't stand his voice. I really can't...I guess that'll probably be labeled s "hating," but I just had to stop the track...not good. I won't call it garbage, 'cause it's not near that bad. But...it's no where near good.

This is crazy hot! Lyfe Jennings has that unique soul sound that no one else can match. The synth production is catchy and keeps you nodding your head. The hook is hot as well everything about this song is a classic! Def be on the lookout to cop his album

This son@s @ood as usual. I do have issues listenin to an entire album full of his voice, it does @et to me at times. He is improvin however, much fuller sound and his production here is sick. I like it!

I agree with bowwserr in the fact that I don't really like hearing his voice either...I'm not saying that he can't sing (cause he can), I just couldn't listen to it over and over like on a cd or repeat ya know??....So overall no hater here. It's ok.

The other day I was listening to Brand New and I wondered where this dude had gone...happy he's alive lol! I don't like his tone at all, but this song is passionate and soulful...he is skilled and I love the production!

Damn, I remember when I 1st heard Lyfe, dude had me wondering who he was immediately with Must Be Nice, and ever since I've listened to all his music. I'm a big fan of his, and I'm glad to see he isn't going anywhere. He knows how to please his fans, and make good music. Definitely a Classic, IMO!
