In late September Lyfe Jennings released the first single off his upcoming March album, Change. Since making its first official push at radio late last month, Cops Up has slowly begun to climb the charts and you know what that means… remix time! On board to rap 16 bars is Lyfe’s new label mate, Jim Jones, who recently inked a million dollar deal between Koch and Jennings’ label, Sony/Columbia. Normally, Jones would want nothing to do with the po po; but while Lyfe is reporting a ‘lil mama’ who stole his heart, Capo figures he’ll try and have his chick arrested too. Look for both artists to collaborate with one another more as the calendar flips to 2008.
I was already a fan of Lyfe's because my ex was a BIG fan...now, for my home region of Southeast Wisconsin and to honor the memory of two that have gone before us, I gotta let y'all know that I got his back and am a bigger supporter now (if you don't know why, e-mail me) JESUS SWINGS 4EVA!
Jim Jones is rippin on this beat. I been listening to a LOT of jim jones lately...go get the two mixtapes brand new called "members of byrdgang" and "harlem's american gangsta" and you will NOT be disappointed. Jennings is good on this track as well. I'm feelin it!
"Cops Up" is a great record. It's a terrific record. Lyfe is just awesome. I don't think throwing a featured verse on a song should be classified as a remix, but nonetheless Jim Jones does his thing. It's as if he wants to be known to the mainstream world as something other than balliiinnnn'.
