Children are often influenced by what they deem as “cool.” While they may not be sure exactly why something is cool it doesn’t really matter; the end result is in the inquiry. On Lupe Fiasco’s sophomore album, The Cool, the Muslim-American MC tackles a variety of stereotypical ‘characters,’ each who suffer from the results of damaging urban influences. The Coolest finds Lupe explaining all the life-decisions he has made in an effort to be cool, then proclaims that nothing he has done make him “the coolest nigga.” Over dark piano notes from producers Chris and Drop, Fiasco does the opposite of Dumb It Down and lyrically drives his message in deep. The oft-delayed, The Cool, should finally be available on December 18th.

i grew my respect for lupe when he wasnt scared to speak out on his knowledge of the trbe. i mean truthfully he was like i me i couldnt tell ya a track they made. its just the raw truth not everybody grew up on them. ever since then i grew respect for lupe cuz i knew he would gain critics prolly even lose fans but he stood up for it though

I was sleeping on Lupe Fiasco when his first CD came out and I just got the album and never listened to it until one day i was working alone and just decided to put it on. How surprised I was! He is very good lyrically and he always spits the TRUTH! He has hood knowledge and suburban knowledge and it all comes out in his music; and he doesn't try to be something he isn't. This track right here is just another example of his intelligence. The beat is hot, the flow is right, and he actually has something new to talk about. Banger!

Lupe is the most slept on in the game for sure. Loving this joint, Why hasn't he blown up yet???? I can see his style and flow appealing to all types, from hard core hip heads to skaters, etc. This guy needs some promotion for real cuz the formula is there.

i love lupe. he is so slept on. i dont think he gets as much respect and airplay as he deserves. dudes like kanye kno what is up tho and say lupe would be in his supergroup. lupes sound isnt like others and he always comes with sumthin different and original, whether it be with the music or features or lyrically. lupe is the ish straight up. i love rappers that speak the truth and sound intelligent when they do so.
