Now that Lupe Fiasco‘s superheroically dedicated fanbase have saved the artist’s third album, LASERS, from languishing eternally on the Atlantic Records shelves (knock on wood), it’s time for the Chi-town mainstay to pay his followers back in kind – and what better way to prove he’s a true Friend of the People than a free mixtape? On SLR (Super Lupe Rap), leak numero uno off the forthcoming street release, the artist dons a cape and red briefs to showcase his lyrical superpowers over a bumping Chipmunk-sampled instrumental by Soundtrakk (led off with a snippet from N.E.R.D.‘s Everyone Nose (Remix)). The verses… well, they’re vintage Lupe, with all the dizzying complexity, left-of-center allusions (at one point, he threatens to steal Cornel West’s ‘fro) and outsized braggadocio that entails; “...better than every rapper in the world combined” may be an exaggeration, but then again… maybe not. Fans can expect more lyrical acrobatics from one of rap’s flyest intellects, on FotP, which will presumably arrive sometime prior to the tentative March 8, 2011, release of LASERS.

Lupe again proves that he isn't to be f**ked with... at least that is the message I got from this new record. One of the very best alive doing the damn thing. Disagree if you'd like, but the audio says otherwise...

No doubt about lupe's thing, but this track..well, I can't listen this beat longer. Though it sampled "Float On", I like better "The Show Goes On" than this.

Flat out Lupe is one of the filthiest rappers alive and no one does like he is doing it...he is light years ahead of most rappers and i wish he would just get L.A.S.E.R.S out and move on from Atlantic cuz they are holding him back from progressing. Production is whatever to me but his flow is so good i gotta give it banger status

Nothing to be said other than that Lupe is the sh*t. I loved how he put some aggresion and energy in the song, but kept it still intelligent. I wasn't so crazy about the production but it didn't really the song from how dope it is.

Lupe killed this track. This is one of my favorites from him of all time because his entire flow made sense. Sometimes he drifts off and gets too creative. Great things to come from LUPE!!!

On a regular Lupe is 4 stars but Lupe is beast mode is an instant 5 stars.
"Stupid with the raps but the rap is never stupid". Say what you want but know he is one of the best. |

I never really was "big" Lupe fan. But i have to say, this is a great record. Very lyrical. Flow is very nice. The beat isnt the best tho. Good production from Soundtrakk. Its a banger for me.

This is good and so is the show goes on, I still prefer a majority of the tracks off Food and Liquor and The Cool more, and since lupe makes up like 90% of the music I listen to I can say its an informed decision

I like this track by Lupe, but yeah its better that its just a mixtape track. It does not have that album sound though. But Im glad he's consistently back to dropping heat. Because at one point he was hit and miss.

Lupe always brings good lyricism and flow when he spits, and this is absolutely a 4 or 5 with almost any other rapper's standards...but LUPE FIASCO??? Its a decent song....but 3.5/5

Lupe just might be another artist that is capable of putting out better mixtapes than albums, but I don't know that it's entirely his fault. We all know Atlantic made that album what it is, skippable.

Lupe doesn't even need to respond to Soulja Boy. He's too lyrically sophisticated to care about broke wannabes. It's like a dying fish taking shots at a hungry shark... But since he did, he stooped down to do so, and thus, Soulja Boy is victorious for garnering a reaction from him. Song-wise, Lupe still proves he can breathe firestorms into the mic.
