Lupe Fiasco - All Black Everything
Artist: Lupe Fiasco
Producer: The Buchanans
Album: Lasers
Label: First&Fifteenth/Atlantic
When Lupe Fiasco calls a song his “favorite ever” you know it’s got to be something special, and sure enough new release All Black Everything is extraordinary. Like his previous release Words I Never Said, All Black is a deeply political and socially revolutionary record that isn’t afraid to tackle the big issues (no wonder Atlantic was so shy about releasing Lasers). The Buchannans provide the production here, overlaying live instrument percussion with angelic harps and a haunting vocal sample. It’s an appropriately epic backdrop for Lupe to delve into some lyrical black power imaginings, conceiving of a world where slavery never existed, the Constitution was written by W.E.B. DuBois and a black rapper named Eminem inspires white rapper 50 Cent to pic up a mic (let the controversy begin). Jay-Z may wear all black everything, and Jeezy may want his house to be All White Everything, but only Lupe dreams in All Black Everything. With music like this guaranteed to be on it, expect anticipation to reach a fever pitch for the long-delayed Lasers, finally dropping on March 8.

On a controversial note, I think Lasers will be better than Kanye's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy solely based off what I've heard so far off of Lasers. Lupe is killin' it with every release.

Lasers is going to be an absolute beast when it comes out. Nothing short of five-star material in his leaks so far.

Heard this yesterday and was blown away. Lasers is going to be a big hit and definitely agree with Trey Bones - Lasers does appear that it will top Yeezy's newest drop but we'll wait til March 8th for final Judgement

Probably my favorite Lupe song. Really. Deep lyrics, sick production, good chorus....but the LYRICS?!?! This is crazy. I've never been this hyped for the album. The 3rd verse on Words I Never Said used to be my favorite Lupe verse but this song is so deep and touches on so many things. Makes you think. And its so good to hear him mention W.E.B. Du Bois who you all probably never heard of or even the Reconstruction Period after the Civil War. 5 stars. Amazing Song

Did you expect anything else but a banger from Lupe? If we can judge lasers by this song, Lasers will be awesome.

Lupe is one of the best rappers around, nice to see him providing a regular track for his fans.
The Buchanans produce good once again, 4 stars. Lasers is generating some good rep from the leaks thus so for, bit like teflon don on the amount of talk around the album, some big expectations. |

Lupe is leaps and bounds away from the typical emcee. We should be snapping fingers when he is through with is poetic display of artistry.

Possibly one of Lupe's best songs... ever. Yes, ever. He is the only artist I know who can go super duper deep lyrically and still come across as catchy at the same time. Usually it is one or the other.

I dont comment a lot, and when I do it is usually on Wiz Khalifa tracks, but his labelmate in Lupe is my favorite lyrical rapper. If i wanna hear some deep, real music, i gotta throw in food and liquor. Imma be bumpin lasers heavy, and when Wiz drops Rolling Papers, Atlantic should be feeling right at the end of march

I believe the true power in music is derived by the ability of a song to transport the listener to a place intended by the artist. The ability to evoke emotion in the audience whether its excitement, sadness, realization is the true essence of why we listen to music. This right here achieves that feat easily for me. Each and every rhyme is a standout as Lupe keeps you inspired and braincells enjoyably teased.
Can't forget The Buchanans' powerful contribution too. The production features slightly off-time dominant drum beats that are prominent throughout the track but still the leader of the mix are cinematic strings. And the inclusion of a haunting vocal sample matures the mix into a deep, emotive and high impact song it's meant to be. All in all, every time I hear this I can think of no other adjective but classic. |

Great song but im not amazed. I'd have to disagree with the people who have said that Lasers will be better than MBDTF basing it off what we've heard so far. I'm excited for the album but I feel like everyone is setting their expectations too high. I think its gonna be great but no classic, and everyone's gonna be really disappointed

Ok let's be honest here. A lot of people had Kanye's MBDTF as a classic which I partially agree on. He took the best of his works and smashed all those sounds into one album but I believe on a more lyrical level Lupe has given us a snap shot of what's happening around us. On that basis alone, since I haven't heard the whole album, is why I made my prediction. Lupe is really taking the modern MC to where it was in the 90's.
