Last week, Luke James surprised listeners in the Booth with Love Chile, a sensual cut which turned out to have absolutely nothing to do with red peppers. Encouraged by that record’s positive reception, the NARS/Def Jam singer/songwriter is back with another fresh song release that sounds like it could be about food, but isn’t. Despite sounding like a dessert you’d order at an avant-garde bistro, Strawberry Vapors is less concerned with molecular gastronomy than with the intoxicating effects of a certain woman on the artist’s psyche. Danja produces, backing the artist’s dreamy, falsetto-laced verses with a sultry, atmospheric synth arrangement. Released December 12, Whispers in the Darkis available now for free digital download. Fans should also keep it locked for the latest on the artist’s currently-unscheduled studio debut, Made to Love.
