Ludacris - How Low (Remix)
Artist: Ludacris
Producer: T-Minus [for Lavish Life]
Album: Battle of the Sexes
Label: DTP/Def Jam
I’ll be honest. When I first heard Ludacris’ smash single How Low I found it aggravating, mostly because of the Chipmunks on helium hook, but since then, like a persistent lover (or a blood clot), it’s grown near and dear to my heart. The T-Minus produced booming beat and Luda’s razor sharp rhymes are just too big to be ignored for long, so you knew it was only a matter of time before the remix dropped. Interestingly, for the remix Luda went with two emcees, Rick Ross and Twista, whose styles are studies in contrast: Ross’ rhymes sound like he just woke up from a nap, while Twista spits like he just downed a meth-laced Red Bull. Ok, so it’s not Shakespeare, but for my money, the How Low Remix is still damn entertaining. So, which will it be people; the original or the remix? For more booty poppin and mic rocking be sure to check out Ludacris’ Battle of the Sexes (now officially minus Shawnna), due out March 9.

When we dropped the original version on November 1st I would have NEVER guessed that it was going to blow up like it has. Kudos to Ludacris for turning this into an insane club banger. The remix is just more of the same, but with added energy thanks to Twista. I am going to bump my original 3-rating to a FOUR.

I'm with Nathan here. I thought it was annoying as hell at first too, but it has grown on me trmendously. Ludacris was dope, but really when is he not? Twista was a great fit here and Ross was decent too. This is a true club banger.

Luda definitely brings it like he knows how to and Twista can keep with the up-tempo beat like no one else...could done without the Boss on here, maybe Flo Rida or someone else who wont kill the energy

I love how the song started off and then when it finally bangs, really puts it to a good start. Luda was dope, when is he not?, and Twista's high energy flow sounded great. Rick was decent but didn't bring down the record. I still find the hook annoying but not as much as since I first heard it.

I'm with Z on this one. I'm probably the biggest Luda fan on this site (I own all of his albums and saw him live 4 times) but I never saw the success it has achieved coming. With How Low, Justin Bieber's "Baby", and Taio Cruz's "Break Your Heart", all projected to blow up at radio, ("Baby" is actually #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 while "How Low" sits at #10) Luda is sure to have one hell of a year ahead of him. Especially considering Ciara, Ne-Yo, Flo Rida, Plies, Eve, Lil' Kim, Nicki Minaj, and (hopefully) Missy Elliott are expected to be on "Battle of the Sexes", Luda is going to have a crazy year on radio.
Anyways, this remix is hot. I could have done without Ross (a faster rapper would have been better) [Krazie Bone maybe?] but Twista comes strong and the new Luda verse bangs. I'll give it a 4. |

Its a upgrade to the original (which I rated a 3). Twista sounded dope & Luda's new verse was cool, though I didnt see a point of putting Ross on this track.
Flo Rida wouldnt of been a bad choice to of put on this, you have to admit that the guy can flow really well over these club tracks. |

#1 on the Urban charts as of yesterday, LUDA is BACK! His first verse on this is a throwback to his old flows. Twista was FIRE too! This would be 5 stars, but wtf was Rick Ross doing on this?

This single has already become bigger than anything on his last album, which is a shame because his last album was his best so far. However, if the rest of his new album is like this, then "Battle Of The Sexes" could be in the running of hip-hop album of the year. I like the original better. Ross' flow isn't right for this song, but Twista's is. Otherwise still a classic.

DAMN - The original takes a back seat to this remix. This was a beat made for Twista, not neccesarily Rick Ross. 4 star record.

I gotta agree with @cb126405 - perfect fit for Twista, not so much for Ricky Ross. Still, it's a banger. You can't deny it.

Don't y'all know the formula for an absolute club-banger (I never heard the original): it's gotta be one part remember-ably annoying with 3 parts hard hitting bass, 4 sprinkles of beat drops, and consist almost an entirely of an up-tempo beat.

I just can't get into this, the hook is too annoying and it's a shame because Ludacris goes hard on this and the original but I can only give it a 2 star because it isn't enough to compensate the annoying ass hook.

I say it's better than the original because the chorus isn't as long lol
Ross sounded like normally does...well to me anyways and ya it wasn't really suited to his style. On the other hand, it's definitely a beat for Twista. Luda was Luda so you know it's gonna be solid. Overall better than the original...I agree with Aussie about having Flo Rida on the track. |

I enjoyed the original and now this... the new verse is fire and twista pushes it up a notch but Ross did not have to be on this track I would prefered someone like flo-rida on this one. Overall the rmx is G

even luda singles like "how low" that i sleep on end up becoming hit records. the remix is a small upgrade, at least twista and luda made it worthwhile. rick ross didn't fit this beat!

I too prefer the Original over this. But still this one is a BANGER!!! as well. Twista as expected comes proper and the contributions of miscast Rick Ross doesn't sound that bad.

May-in, my main Luda killed a-geyinn!!
Luda's alwayz been my fav MC. That remix flow iz HOT!!! The original verses are just as heated as the remix. The whole concept of the song is about "how low you can go" Luda's finally gone back to his dirty talk that made him what he is today. Do your thang Luda!! |

I'll admit that I'm not a huge Rick Ross fan BUT...he's what he is for those who are what they are...in other words...Rick is something for the D-boys and ballas. You know. That being said, this remix is the SHIZNIT!

Luda wrecked everyone on the track. Ross was horrible. Not because I don't cut for that ole police - ass ... but because his flow doesn't even fit the track. Stick to the fairy tale rapping & stay off the club bangers.
Twista always gonna do his thing. |
