Today when I woke up I decided to ask myself, “Z, who do you think is the undisputed heavyweight champion of hip-hop? (And yes, I refer to myself in the third person all the time). Three names popped into my head: Lil’ Wayne, Kanye West, and Jay-Z. Without a doubt all three of my choices belong at the very top of this mock “undisputed” list, but there is a fourth selection I know could put up one helluva fight. Preparing for the late fall release of his sixth album this decade (that’s one every other year for all you non-math majors), Theatre of the Mind, Atlanta’s very own Ludacris is my underdog selection. Following his first two featured singles, What Them Girls Like and Wish You Could, Cris delivers the Floyd Mayweather-assisted and Don Cannon-produced banger, Undisputed. A video has already been shot for this single and will premiere soon.
Whoaa!! The first time I heard this I listened to this like 5 times after that. This is crazy hot and the beat goes. This is one of the hardest songs I've heard from Ludacris. It has a kinda mixtape feeling too it. Its similar to Lil Wayne using Mike Tyson in the American Dream. I like this. I give it full 5 stars!!
THE KING OF THE SOUTH IS BACK THIS BEAT IS BANGING WITH LUDAS DIVERSE FLOW AND VOICE DELIVERY MAKES THIS ONE HELL OF A GOOD TRACK I LIKE THE OLD SKOOL SAMPLE OF THIS BY DON CANNON I WUD DEFINATELY PUT LUDA IN MY TOP 3 UNDISPUTED IN HIP HOP CANT WAIT FOR THE ALBUM TO DROP!!!!
Here we go! Ludacris is back. I was NOT feeling the song he did with T.I. But this is hot! This makes me want to look forward to "Theater of the Mind". Yo Z, the only other emcee you are missing from that list is Lupe Fiasco. I think this will fair very well. Ludacris is doing the thing!
DJ Z!!!! Not to take the spot light away from this amazing song from Luda, which deserves 5 Stars, BUT dont you think that Lupe´s body of work, [Albums+Mixtapes] elevates him among hip hops heavyweights? Perhaps not of "All Time" but at least in todays musically uncertain times, he must be up there.
Luda is definitely the champ of hip hop this DECADE. Album for album , hit for hit, and verse for verse no other rapper has been more consistent in the 2000s by staying in at least the top 5 all those yrs. The other three that were mentioned can only be compared to in sales if that is whats meant by heavyweight champion. Jay-z took a 3 year break this decade and lil wayne and kanye just started to get hot in the second half of this decade. Many rappers have fell off that were hot in the early 2000s but not Ludacris.
Dis song is definitely a hot song to go with the soon to be mega hit What Them Girls Like for his album to be released on November 11. While most rapper in the top have turned to singing or using the autotune too much, dis can be Luda's chance to officially claim the top spot.
Good Don Cannon beat. This will be one of those sick songs that athletes put on their ipod playlist while they're working out or getting psyched for a big game or big fight. That's sick that Mayweather was on it. His talkin in between verses reminded me of "The Champ" from Ghostface Killah's Fishscale album. Ludacris tore it up of course and he's definitely remained constant on the list of best rappers ever since he started.
I'm not big on Cannon's beat, but damn Luda serves this one up! I loved his last album, by far his best, I am worried that this one won't match up production wise, but luda as an MC, clearly elite!
This GOES HARD AS HELL! Ludacris STRAIGHT KILLS THIS BEAT! I don't think he is anywhere near a King of the game though (neither is Lupe, but that's a discussion for another time/place, and for those of you who say Chamillionaire, you guys are the craziest of all!) Money Mayweather is the BEST in the ring and he is DAMN good on the mic! Go search youtube for more Mayweather tracks...He is really actually NICE! My three for Kings of the game right now are Lil Wayne, Kanye, and 50-cent (Hi Haters!) If you wanna come at me for the things being said send me an email! djblaze@djbooth.net and we can hash it out! No need for internet thugs forum bashing! peace...oh yeah, and this gets a 4-stars out of 5 rating!
it's bout time Luda b hittin the scene. i've been disappointed by the other big names this year (Game, Lil Wayne, etc) and i'm waitin on Luda to bring it!
Luda killed this, Twon, he isn't the most underrated rapper... lmfao what you been searchin for on Google to get that? haha jp,
Blaze wth you been? I ain't seen you leave a comment in a longggg time, and you crazy for sayin 50 in the top Three Kings of the game right now, maybe the business game lmfao but i respect your opinion, whatever that is, i'll be lookin out for more Mayweather tracks when i get home.
Tylercocinas, you hit it on the nose! DJ Blaze, no forum bashing here...just a response. I cosign for the Lil Wayne and Kanye West statement. Lupe probably will get there in due time, though I think he's there already (I actually thought this every since Summer 2006 from listening to the "Revenge of the Nerds" mixtape. Then he dropped a classic album "Food and Liquor", which I guess will have to wait to get it's recognition like Nas' "Illmatic" did later on. People weren't acknowledging that it was a classic in mainstream media until about 2000. Also, even with all that, it took Lupe dropped "Superstar" for the media and the uninformed listeners to get wind of his skill, when really he's been dope all along and his real fans have been fans since Kick Push, and even before that. Possibly even before we heard him on Kanye's "Touch the Sky". The only thing I do disagree with is 50 Cent. If we are talking about marketing and finances, you could say so. 50 would be in the list with Jay-Z and P.Diddy. But if we are talking about music here, he doesn't make the list. His last solo release and G-Unit release was way off the radar and not up to par. Now I'll admit, some of his recent freestyles have been good and he might be back on top with the release of his next LP....but he's going to have to earn that respect. But anyways, that was my two cents...and then some! Peace Easy!
Not feeling the beat so much but Luda does more than make up for it with his catchy-yet-brutal delivery. As for my top 3 undisputer kings right now; I personally believe Luda rips Wayne to peices in terms of consistency. Every track I've heard the two on together, Luda always comes out on top. He also comes harder than Kanye; probably not Hova. This, of course, is judging lyrical content. I'd have to say, of all the "undisputed kings" Ludacris is my favorite of all. The man can jump on any beat, any guest feature, and SONG and murder it up-and-down. It'd be hard to find a bad Luda verse, no matter where you look. One of the best, if not the best, flows in the game. His creativity outshines most. Lyrically he never falters. In fact, I'm hard pressed to find anything NEGATIVE to say about the man. Except maybe he doesn't think before he raps; the Politics as Usual song was (although I enjoyed it) a bit much. However, that just adds to his appeal; the fact he's never going to censor himself. Ludacris=Most Consistent Rapper Alive.
I agree with some of yall. Ludacris is the most underrated lyrically. His Preview mixtape was hot and this was amazing. I wanna hear a track without money, jewelry, and gun-talk tho. I'm bored with the content no matter how skilled it is. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place with "undisputed"
Luda is definitely the Rapper of the Decade in all accounts (consistency, most hits ever by a rapper, albums/sales, and especially lyrics). He appeals to all kinds of people.
50 cent lyrically and musically a king of Hip Hop? I honestly can't see anyone saying that! 50 cent as a business man, or king of hip-hop in terms of pulling strings wif all dat money I can see tha as well but buddy is way too 1-dimensional in order to be a king of hip hop. Hova is the only one on that list that isn't disputable, Kanye needs to get his head right (the ol' kanye would never attack paparazzi) and lyrically he's been off lately. Wayne is too inconsistent to be a king, throw TI on that list or Nas and I could roll with that. This wasn't my favorite luda track, he ripped it lyrically but the beat was just okay for me. This is a 3.5 but because its luda it deserves the respect of seeing a 4.
Good but not excellent...I expected more! I like the beat but the backgroumd music is annoying. His flow is really good but the song gets repetitive! Might have needed a hook in my opinion...it's in rotation
DAAAAAAAMN i soo confused right no i mad becuase the concept of the song is a idea i had for the loooongest but i gottta say luda @*#$! rip this @*#$! i dont think i could have done it like him
Luda's doing it big on this track round for round the beat could of been better but luda straight serves it. Mayweather is a nice touch to this track too.
XuUP17, I agree. Lose the cliche topics and spit on something real. Oh, and sprntking04, what are you talking about? I mean, Wayne's was nice and all...but he didn't even get Tyson in real life. Ludacris actually got Mayweather on the track "forreal" and smashed it. Stick to acting? Get real fam. Ludacris has always been a top hitter in the rap game, and sure enough, he's moving up in the acting world as well. But he's definitely a heavyweight contender (pun intended) in the rap world, as he explains and exhibits here.
michaelhannah whether wayne got tyson on the song for real or not, Luda still copied wayne. And im sorry but Luda last okay song was run away love, and before this song his last single was Ludacristmas, what at joke
sprntking04. this song was put in production over 4 months ago according to Floyd Mayweather. Wayne's song, due to being a mixtape song, came out within weeks after its recording. So, if anything, Wayne copied Luda. Secondly, Luda's last single was Ludacrismas? Yeah. Sure, if you consider a song he did for children based on his movie Fred Clause a single, then yeah, it's a joke. Not to mention, I'm sure "What Them Girls Like" and "Wish You Would" came out a "little" bit sooner than Ludachrismas. Do a little research a little bit before you come on here talking smack. Either that or stop drinking the haterade. Lil' Wayne is a great artist but in terms of consistency, Luda eats him alive. He may not jump on every song in the known world but when he does he never fails to deliver fire. Wish I could say the same for Wayne who truely seems to believe that quantity is over quality. End of conversation.
DJ J, Either way, waynes "American Dream" is harder than this. They need to put that up here so people can decide..And yeah i heard those other ludacris singles,ON DJBOOTH, but real singles get radio play. and this song just like the few you mentioned will get no play on the streets. If it does it will be a filler song on a mixtape. I like Luda, but i dont like this song simple as that. The song is "OK" like my rating suggest
this dosnt compete with the classic luda we all know and respect, its not bad or anything, its just that u really do expect more from ludacris, hopefully a couple of bangers get released soon otherwise ill just download the album instead of buying it.
Dis is a classic rap song. No one can spit like this on a track. This is def. a track that should get spins along with his main radio single "What Them Girls Like".
Wayne West or J? Damn... everyone is forgetting T.I. and yeh... behind that is Luda... taht man ALWAYS comes hard... i swear he scares me he's that intense haha.
sprntking04, yeah, "What Them Girls Like" is definitely not getting radio play. (Sarcastic) It's only number 48 on the Billboard Hot 100 and projected to be number 1 within 6 weeks. :-\
As for Wish You Would. It's a street single. Wasn't meant to get radio play. Just to build hype. And being the first Luda/T.I. pro-beef track, it did its job.
P.S. Ludacrismas wasn't even a single. So there goes your argument. PPS. I'm not saying American Dream was bad. I'm simply saying that your analysis of Luda's music is wrong.
DJ J, Why isnt "What Them Girls Like" not getting radio play, it should be getting a lot. Its probably not the trend now or Lil Wayne is clogging the airwaves. Luda should do something fast to promote the single or come wit something big cuz his albums coming November 25th.
