Los - Next Black President
Artist: Los
Producer: Baron Boys
Album: Shooter Mixtape
Label: Bad Boy/After Platinum
For most of America, Baltimore is known for The Barksdale crew of the Wire and Cal Ripken than it is for hip-hop. However, that doesn’t mean a young B-More emcee like Los can’t dream big. How big? How does the White House sound? That’s exactly the topic Los metaphorically tackles on Next Black President, the first leak off his upcoming Shooter mixtape. Over the Baron Boys inspirational tribal drum beat, the DJBooth Freestyle Series alum discusses issues facing today’s community, ranging from hatred and jealousy to the absence of father figures. Inspirationally, Los challenges listeners to see things from a different perspective and embrace the obstacles they face to become a stronger person, and maybe even eventually have the power to become the Next Black President. Is this track dope enough for Los’ dreams of running the hip-hop free world to come true? Hey, I’m sure plenty of people told Barack Obama he’d never become the first black president, so anything’s possible. DJBooth, cast your votes now.

I'll cast my vote, Ivan - Los continues to impress me. I enjoyed his first Booth feature ("Never Landing") more, but this is different type of record so it would be unfair to compare the two. All-in-all another solid effort.

Great message and heart-felt lyrics and intensity by Los makes this a good track. The production is pretty good, but it sometimes sounds out of place as a backdrop for Los' flow. Regardless it is a good track that is worth a few listens.

I've heard this plenty of times since I heard it a few days ago. IMO this is crazy. The hook is motivational. The verses have a meaningful message. And I love beats like these. I'm between Banger and Classic but since the people above me gave it 3's, i'm giving it 5.

Los is a promising emcee, ever since I heard his remix to A Milli, he continues to rip songs. The fact that this is an original piece of work, makes it all the more meaningful for fans of Los. Looking forward to what he can do in the game.

Los has a nice flow, reminds me of someone else though can't think who.. He feels out of place at time to the beat but still rips it up. Baron Boys did a pretty sick job on the prod too, well done guys.

Lyrically outstanding. I wasn't sure what to expect when I pressed play on this one, but it's a hell of a cut. We all need to party from time to time, but props to Los for making some truly meaningful music.

I love to hear artists cut uplifting records instead concentrating on the negative aspects of what we have to face daily. I think Los does a great job of inspiring the youth on this joint.

Wowwww first song I have ever heard from him and this is a great start...dude is straight fire. I heard his A Milli Remix and I Can Transform Ya Remix, and this guy is undoubtedly sick. Only time until he blows up.
If you give this type of song 3 stars, than I feel bad for you. Real Hip Hop right here |

Incredible, don't know what the @*#$! is wrong with your ears if you gave this a 3...there is no flaw in this song. Beat is motivational, hook is motivational, and the lyrics have a message. He sounds like TI in the 3rd verse. This is a Nas type of song too
