Here’s a Zen koan for y’all: do The Lonely Island make comedy records that just so happen to take the form of hip-hop, or do they make hip-hop records that just so happen to be about completely ridiculous sh*t? Considering how adept Booth newcomers Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone and Andy Samberg have become at straddling that line, I think the correct answer is simply to sit back, hit play, and laugh your ass off. On new single I Just Had Sex, the trio once again showcase their knack for turning spot-on parody and inimitably awkward lyricism into comedy-pop gold. Over a synth-drenched beat that wouldn’t sound out of place on an Akon single, the crew inform the world that – you guessed it – they recently engaged in intercourse with a woman: ”You’ll never guess where I just came from: I had sex / If I had to describe the feeling, it was the best.” As those who read the title line may have surmised, ‘kon himself lends a hand on the guest tip, giving the cut that authentic flavor with a triumphant sung hook. This is absolutely hilarious. As far as The Lonely Island goes, they really took the rap parody segment to another level. This song is just over the top in every way yet it is catchy as hell.
Not to mention Akon comes through big on this which sounds kind of stupid but considering T-Pain already did the Lonely Island thing it is nice to see other artists step up and have some fun with it. This is going to be all over the place in no time. |

This is the perfect example of the modern, "Wait, what did I just hear?" humor, and in that respect this song excels. That being said, the lyrical versatility rarely extends beyond words most people learn by the fifth grade. For that reason, I have to give this song two stars: just 'ok.'

There's no where that this would even be appropriate to play. It would be awkward at a club, wouldn't really fit at a party, and single depressed men would be the only audience to try to bump this in their cars. And even then when their driving solo. But hey i'm sure someone out there wants to go around playing a song singing about sex, and penises.

For what this track is about is a babnger. And what this track is, is funny as hell. I think its just making fun of all the songs that talk about sex and women one way or another. Snoop's "I wanna love you", J. Holiday's "Bed" the list goes on and on. So this track is merely just satire and nothing else. As a hip hop song it fails tremendously because of it subject matter but strictly taken as for what it is, it succeeds.

This song is pretty much garbage except for the hook which is banging. I hope i can get an instrumental of this song with the hook still in it. even alot of akon's vocals sound forced. Seems like they spent about 5 minutes recording his vocals and called it a day

You can't take this song seriously, you've got no life if your analysing this track because in that sense it's rubbish. But listening to it in the way it was intended (with a comedic parody of pop/r'n'b/club in mind), this is a 5 star gem! But I can't give it 5 coz it means it's a classic on this site, 4.5 rounding down to 4. @DJ Z: Either Akon has good sense of humor and he can take a joke or he is a complete dumb ass and has no clue! Sad that some of you take this song more serious than it needs to be. Incase you haven't realized "Quincykins", as everyone gets older, we all love to revert back to some of the immaturity we took part in when we were younger.
This song lets people do that. 5 stars to a catchy song that really gives a great laugh. |
