Allegedly given before an audience of slaveholders in 1712, the Willie Lynch Speech finds the titular plantation owner outlining a series of divide-and-conquer tactics that can be used to turn African-Americas against one another, thereby taking the heat off the masters. Whether or not the document is authentic (the language suggests it is a 20th-Century invention), the psychological dynamics it describes have struck a chord with many—including Locksmith, who applies a similar analysis to the hip-hop game on a new single off his latest street release. Over slow-rolling boardwork by Matt Cody and Braden Blair, the recent freestyle series contributor shakes his head at the constant back-biting and crab-in-a-bucket behavior that are so prevalent among his peers. Directed by Locksmith in conjunction with Brian Storm and featuring animation by Dreddy A., the accompanying visuals feature cameos from Alchemist, DJ Maseo of De la Soul, DJ Evil Dee and many more.
