From his hit single Lay It Down to his latest solo release Be the One, Lloyd just can’t seem to make music we’re not feeling. Which means his Cal Ripken-esque streak is on the line with the release of new cut Stay. Released via producer Polow da Don’s Twitter, as most non-single songs are these days, Stay is a carefully balanced cut that combines pounding, up-tempo, hypnotic drum work with a softer overlay, even pausing to incorporate a flamenco-esque guitar section and subtle horns on the back end. Even for Polow that’s a lot of instruments on one beat. In other words, it’s the kind of complex production that would drown out most singers but Lloyd holds his own here, managing to rise above the beat while still maintaining the song’s softer, more romantic side. So now it’s up to you Booth Nation. Will Lloyd’s winning streak stay intact, or is this the end of the high-ratings road for Young Goldie? (Get it? Stay intact? Nevermind). Either way fans no doubt already have their calendars marked for July 5 when Lloyd’s King of Hearts album will finally see the light of day.

Super quick feedback...
"Be The One" dropped last week and immediately I was looking forward to the full length... and now we get another taste? Lloyd's voice is second to none these days and with Polow behind him. Game over.

Lloyd has really been coming with some heat lately. I really have not been disappointed by him yet in this new project. The production is solid, and the vocals are on point here. King of Hearts should be a good buy.

Another song with really tight production from Palow. Reminds me of a lot of the songs off of Street Love, which gives me hope that the album will return a bit to some of the musical territory that got Lloyd noticed in the first place. His vocals fit the song nicely. Song loses a point because something feels a little off in the drums. The chorus also feels a little rushed lyrically, like Lloyd didn't spend enough time with it.

Solid effort but I'm not altogether feeling it yet... Gotta agree with SupaDupa, it is unusual that this style of music is becoming less and less popular. When Lloyd came up there was little room to breathe in this genre but now he seems to be at the forefront. He has come a long way though

I have never been a fan of Lloyd, even tho he's been on some hooks of great songs, I've never been a fan of his solo efforts. These last 2 tracks are better than anything I've ever heard from him tho. Still not completely sold tho...3.5
