Lloyd - Like Me
Featuring: Bun B
Producer: J$MIL
Album: The Young Goldie EP
Label: Young Goldie/Interscope
In honor of the new NBA season, let’s go ahead and say that, starting about a month ago, Lloyd’s shooting one-for-two from the field. After leaving the Booth jumping out of their seats with Pusha and Pusha (Remix) featuring Lil Wayne (“long hair don’t care”), the perpetually calm crooner largely bricked his last shot at Booth acclaim, the merely decent Take It Off. Well you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, so Lloyd’s still firing away, this time with the slowly smoking Like Me, a J$MIL-produced joint that shows Lloyd’s more autobiographical side as he lays out how he went from a fatherless childhood to r&b fame, a theme echoed by Bun B in his trill guest verse. Like Me might not make the highlight reels, but I’ve got to give it to Lloyd, he hits nothing but net on this one (no more bad basketball puns, I promise). Keep it locked for more from Lloyd as he prepares his upcoming project The Young Goldie EP, reportedly set for independent release sometime in December.

@that1kid13 - I'm not callin you a hater, but one-star for a Lloyd/Bun B collabo produced by Jim Jonsin? It's your opinion though.
I thought Lloyd sounded smooth on this Jim Jonsin production and Bun delivers another consistent guest verse. 3.5 but I'm roundin up. |

The production is very pleasant, it compliments Lloyd's juvenile sound (not a bad thing at all, unless he makes a song for the ladies lol...in that case, I'll pass) and Bun B took care of the leftover 7-10.

J$MIL's production work sounds like Jim Jonsin's recent material, but Lloyd makes this his own. This is more like it, man!
PS. I dare you to find a song where Bun B mailed in his guest 16. Go. |

One/two stars? For real was it really that bad? For me I felt it was dope mostly thanks to Jim Jonsin with a smooth, Whatever You Like-ish beat.
You would think with Lloyd's smooth voice that would mesh perfectly over that but oddly it dosen't sound as great as it should. I don't know, I felt he was too laid back and relax but Bun's rap was great and since Jim switched the beat for his part made it even better. |

The original version (or unfinished version) without Bun B is tight, so the addition of him can only be a improvement.
I highly recommend checking out a track called Night & Day by Lloyd (also produced by Jim Jonsin). Ive had it in constant rotation for months |

yes this is a typical jim jonsin beat...but this is a solid effort from lloyd. i actually dont need the bun b verse at all, it really doesn't fit and the OG version with just lloyd is 4 stars on its own. probly not a hit single, but a good record

Don't mean to pile on that1kid, but one star, really? Maybe you're not loving this song, but it's miles better than Speak French, now that was a one star song.
Lloyd's not rewriting the r&b record books on this one, but I'm still enjoying it, especially the autobiographical vibe on the first verse, and of course the Bun B verse. Lloyd basically whispers his way through the track, but other than that it's solid. |

I like this side of Lloyd. This song reminds me of his contributions in "No More" off Dj Drama's Gangsta Grillz. True storytelling. I'm feelin' this one.

The production by J$Mil is a smooth ride backed by rhythmic handclaps/snares (those electronic bleeps are what make this sound like a work of Jim Jonsin) and Lloyd rides the beat easily with his trademark laid back whisper-flow. Gettin' Bun B for a cool verse was a plus too. It has all the elements to find a home at Radio. A win!

The production on this track is pretty good. I am feeling the beat. Lloyd sounds nice and smooth on here (as usual). I like this track. His last two albums so far sound better than what this album is shaping up to be. I don't think it will be as good, but we'll have to wait and see.

I have to quote $PrinceCharming$, Lloyd sings too "sweetly", do u get me? he whispers, he really needs to sing. He sounds a lil too girly to my ears! By the way I really like the song, catchy and sweet. Kinda different for him, it's better than the previous one I heard on the Booth!
