Lloyd - Lights, Camera, Action
Artist: Lloyd
Producer: Polow Da Don
Album: Lessons In Love 2.0
Label: Young Goldie/Interscope
I’ll be the first to admit I don’t quite understand the appeal of getting it in on camera, but whether it’s the prospect of reliving those steamy moments years in the future, or the thrilling risk of public embarrassment and/or potential blackmail, something about it seems to turn people, particularly celebrities, on. Fresh of his release from his Universal Motown contract, the newly-indie Lloyd outs himself as one of the R&B game’s many videophiles on this new cut, shouting, “Lights, Camera, Action!” as he and one very trusting chick get ready for their big-screen debut. Even if the subject matter doesn’t get you hot under the collar, there’s a lot to like here—the singer’s breathless, movie-themed come-ons (“I do my stunts on my own…”) along with Polow Da Don‘s electro-tinged mix of Popcorn-esque synths and propulsive, handclap-driven percussion, make for a danceable cut with freaky appeal to spare. Fans can find plenty more remixed/unreleased cuts on Lessons in Love 2.0, out now through Lloyd’s own Young Goldie label.

I love Lloyd's unique voice. This wasn't the best song I've heard him on, but he still sounds fresh on here. Polow brought a pretty good production and the hook was pretty catchy. I'll throw this in rotation.

dont worry everyone...
that1kid13 is back!!! lol. lloyd is coo but sometimes his voice can be really annoying. that beat reminds me of a diddy song.. like diddy bop i think its called? anyway. this is ok. the beat is hot, the hook is coo, the verses arent. |

If there ever was a song that was made to get more people into taping themselves, THIS is it, the lyrics are humorous if not serious, and gives the song a nice edge, Lloyd's having fun with his music, Props to him. The production perfectly fits this song type, and works well, Lloyd is kinda refreshing to hear since its been along time since I've heard him, and to the ladies, He should seduce quite a few with his breathy voice.

The crazy part about this record? It was unreleased and deemed unworthy of making the cut on Lloyd's last album. Glad it was liberated for this new 2.0 verison of "Lessons In Love."
Sidebar: Richard, I agree. Not sure why anyone (especially celebs) would want to get it on on-camera. Not a good move in today's society (cough, YouTube, cough). |

Not feeling this song on the first listen but it might grow on me. The beat is alright but definitely not feeling the verses. The hook outshines the verses by a mile in my mind. 2 stars

This track is better then a couple of tracks that ended up on 'Lessons In Love'. The production is good from Polow while Lloyd sounded pretty smooth. This was pretty much what I expected from the combination.

I am being told [as of this morning] that the record ended up being given over to NKOTB for their album. That, ultimately, is why this release [Lessons In Love 2.0] is being made independently.

I downloaded Lessons in Love 2.0 Yesterday, and it been playing in my IPOD ever since. He is just so very talented, this particular song, is a little different than his normal dance tracks but I really like it. Kudos to YG.

Im loving Lights Camera Action as the beat is hot and the vocals are crazy hot! Lloyd's mixtape is one to be had and listened to on the daily...much luv!

I like the track, although it's a lil weird on the subject matter... I don't see the appeal of doin your stuff on camera when you're famous (uh hello anyone remember Ray J and Kim K?). Unless he's got em locked in a vault where no one can get them but him. Maybe he's doin vids so he has evidence of his "conquests"? Cause I know some people think he's gay. I wouldn't believe it. But despite this kinda odd subject it's a great track. The beat is off the hook and I play it and sing along and bop my head to the beat and all that. Glad no one has caught me singing it yet haha.

It's a good song, but after listening to the NKOTB version for the last 6 months, this one lacks some energy.

What's up everybody...I don't think this is Lloyd's type of track. He could do better on another beat. Since this album isn't coming form THE INC, then does that mean that he is looking to jump ship soon? I would...

I wasn't really feelin this one. I can see what that1kid13 means, cuz Lloyd sounds very good on certain types of tracks and disappoints me on others. This is one of the disappointing ones, I didn't like his vocals at all. The production was OK, but kinda annoying at times.

it reminds me of i'm wit it off of lessons in love & i'm def. wit it...haha, horrible joke. probably wouldn't hear it on the radio cuz they like to keep the same lame shit on repeat. but if they did play this track i'm not really sure where it would fit, in regards to which station would play it. it's one of those songs that choreographers would looooove. i'd def. add it to my workout playlist. overall i give it a A-

Is this 4 real?
1) "Lights Camera Action" is like the most overused hook EVER! 2) The beat sounds like Britney Spears should be singing on it. Garbage at its worst! |
