Featured back in August of 2010, King of Hearts lead single Lay It Down earned rave reviews from listeners in the Booth – and, thanks to its cliffhanger ending, left our resident Lloyd fans clamoring for a sequel. Well, OK, you didn’t exactly need ESPN to predict that the Young Goldie singer was gonna ball, but the admitted lack of suspense in no way diminishes the freshness of this new sequel/remix. Dedicated to such pioneering singers as Tina Marie and Aretha Franklin, Part II (A Tribute to the Legends) retains Polow Da Don‘s slow-rolling beat and the overall theme, but packs an added blast from the past in the form of guest vocals from Patti Labelle. In addition to contributing some soaring backing vocals and alluding to her own ‘83 hit, Love, Need and Want You on the bridge, the soul diva administers a hard-hitting reality check on the middle verse, asking “If you really wanna keep a good girl, then why you on the street with a hood girl?” Is this retro-infused revamp an improvement upon the acclaimed original? We report, you decide. Either way, fans can find plenty more where this came from on Lloyd’s fourth LP, scheduled to hit stores sometime in March.

Not sure where I'll be able to fit Patti Labelle on my ipod, but I'm really impressed Lloyd was able to recruit such an icon for his work. Can't say that about a lot of artists. Not much to really go into, the original was hot and this is an obvious upgrade. Approval.

Lloyd sounds great on this track. His voice is just sounds right. Patti Labelle sounds great too (as usual). This can easily go into rotation!

Wow I would of never guessed that someone like Patti Labelle would do a remix to this. But hell it works. Great chemistry between the two.

To me, it really says something when Patti Labelle jumps on your record. You don't see this type of collbo happen every day. Kudos to Lloyd, whose single is even better than its original version. I am looking forward to the new album.

Lloyd's voice obviously doesn't have the strength of a true soul great like Ms. Labelle, but when it comes to smooth hooks and falsetto crooning, it just doesn't get much better. Every track's better with Young Goldie.

We all know that first part is usually a lot better than the sequel. This is not an exception.

Ok.... i hated the original version of this.... it is horrible. But this is WAY better than that terrible original. And having Patti Labelle is the best feature of the year. lol omg. Having her in this, made it such a great such. She made this song likable for me. And i love it.

I like the direction that they were trying to go in as far as the content of the song. I think it could've been arranged better but I'm a perfectionist. I'll still rate it a classic cause Patti hoped on the track!!

I prefer the original over this. I understand that the song sampled Patti's original but she ruins this remix. Still not horrible though.

Damn like this alot, got that nice mix of classic soul and new r'n'b. And not to mention Ms Labelle as a feature? ITS OVER.

Good to hear young artists paying tribute to the true pioneers. RIP Tina Marie. Mad track and much respect to lloyd.
