Sure most of us are still working off a bit of a romance hangover after the love fest that was Valentine’s Day, but can you ever really have too much of Cupid‘s touch? Ok, so maybe you can, but in this case Lloyd, the slim singer with the golden voice, is betting that the Booth is in the mood for some sweet, sweet lovin’ year round. Behind the boards frequent hitmaker Polow Da Don is in smooth hip-pop mode, layering subtle guitar lines and horns over an up-tempo, bouncing beat that breaks down into an incongruous, Swizzy-esque shouter on the bridge. By contrast, Lloyd is at his purest here, both lyrically and musically, professing nothing but the most syrupy of sentiments with every word and note. In other words, I think we can expect to hear this one played at weddings everywhere soon (hey, it’s better than We Are Family 47 times.) But will the Booth fall head over heels with Cupid? We’ll find out soon in the comments below, and when Lloyd’s upcoming album King of Hearts, his debut on Interscope, hits store shelves this spring.

After another long day of traveling, light feedback time...
I'm a fan of Lloyd bedroom burners, not Lloyd club songs. He sounds good vocally, but its not as comfortable of a listen to me. Still, excited for his new album which by all accounts should be terrific.

Loved the song at first listen. It just puts you in a great mood, and the melody got stuck in my head. The bass sounds nice and something about the song has a little 90's R&B vibe. Definitely looking forward to the album - Lloyd always puts out great music.

Hmm...I honestly don't know what to think about this one. It's not as instant as "Lay It Down", but I can't help but feel nostalgic when listening to it, like I've heard it before. Its most definitely a grower.

Based on everything that Lloyd has put out in the last few months, King of Hearts looks to be Lloyd's best commercial effort yet. At the very least it will be his best commercial effort since Street Love. Lloyd's vocals are more than just smooth, they transition in and out of falsetto flawlessly. It's also nice that he's not autotuning his voice like he did on some songs on Lessons In Love.
Aside from Lloyd's vocals, the production is exceptionally tight. The beat is both different from anything I've heard on the radio, and catchy, which isn't easy to do. The guitar riffs also work really well in combination with the strings on this track. The instrumental is already all over google, and its worth giving a full listen a few times over. This song has hit potential. |

This sounds like something Justin Bieber should be singing, lyrically i mean. Those lyrics are almost cheesy at times. Bt vocally he was on point. And Polow hardly disappoints.

Separately the production and the vocals were nice, but I didn't think they worked together very well at all. The more pounding elements of Polow's beat run completely counter to Lloyd's softly romantic crooning.

People might think I am crazy for saying this, but I don't know if he can match the quality of The Young Goldie EP on this album. I thought that whole EP was great album material. With that said, Lloyd sure doesn't dissapoint here, he rarely does.

Lloyd is underrated and is one of the breakthrough R&B acts to me. Shame he doesn't get enough recognition.
This track is smooth, the vocals are great but I think the beat is a bit lost. Mediocre compared to his other songs. |

This track is sweet, nice 00's club vibe but at the same time it's got that 90's r'n'b vibe to it too... I'm don't know weather to crank it up and get ready for the club or call up a girl I like and try to impress her with this track that I just found (good ol' high school days).
