Little Brother - Curtain Call
Artist: Little Brother
Producer: Khrysis
Album: LeftBack
Label: Hall Of Justus
After years of lighting up the middle ground (above underground, below the mainsteam) North Carolina duo Little Brother are finally calling it quits as a group, but before the take their place in hip-hop history they’re determined to go out on a top, a mission that should be easily accomplished if their upcoming album LeftBack is anywhere near as good as their new single Curtain Call. Backed by supremely smooth and electronically accented production from Khrysis, Phonte and Rapper Big Pooh repeatedly display the kind of lyrical dexterity that have made them beloved by true hip-hop heads everywhere: “With all the pictures added / we put our stamp on it / not being Cam’ronish / I mean diplomatic.” Unlike Brett Farve himself, I can’t help but hope Little Brother will end up Brett Farvin and call off the retirement. Either way, the farewell tour will start in earnest when Little Brother’s final album LeftBack drops April 20, also known as 4/20. Just a coincidence, I’m sure.

Like Nathan I hope this isn't it for Little Brother, but if it is their swan song this is a helluva way to go out. Smooth smooth smooth. Khrysis smashed this production. Just rotate. And again.

Everything about this song was solid. Production was smooth and they both flowed over it real nicely.

I was just wondering if The Booth was ever going to feature LBs new single. Little Brother is one of my favorite groups of all time. I love these guys, 9th Wonder, Big Pooh, Phonte.
I literally listened to this song over and over and over again about 8-10 times. But these guys better pull a Brett Favre and unretired. Even though I’d rather see 9th produce this album, Khrysis did an incredible job. I can’t wait for the album! If I could pre-order it right now from underground hip-hop.com I would’ve already done that. CLASSIC! |

I'm sorry people, I can't get passed that rain drop backround beat. I don't think it needs to be there, I know its a little thing but it kills the track for me.

On LBs last album "GetBack" 9th Wonder produced 1 song, "Breakin My Heart." I really really hope that 9th will produce at least 1 track on "LeftBack." But I doubt that will happen though. :(

The flag's flying at half mast outside the Slavik mansion in honor of Little Brother. I mean they fu**king dropped a Clarissa Explains It All reference and made it sound dope! Is there anything they can't make fresh? You will be missed LB.

It’s incredibly calming yet undoubtedly unsettling song at the same time. Hook captures the mood of the moment, perfect for every new wrinkle and gray hair.
"Who them boys that make the record feel turn the speakers up and let the record kill Don't stop, you know it don't quit but when its curtain call then this all you gonna get and we do it like this..." |

So hot, LB does its think and Khrysis went in on this beat. I havent heard anything like it - kinda got an 80s vibe to it but not really. Dope track and I cant wait for this album.

LB is one of my favorite groups of all time. All of their albums have NEVER disappointed. Crisp solid production and unique, intelligent lyricism.
AP_ALL_DAY_28 : 9th Wonder left the group a few years ago. I think they just parted ways to explore different styles of music. But i know Little Brother is now just Big Pooh and Phonte |

Good song overall. Really feel the subject matter. They are just not the same to me without 9th Wonder.

Its about time! Seems like i've been asking "oh brother, where art thou?" for a couple years now. From the sounds of things, it was worth the wait...MUY FRESCO!

I live in s.carolina and not one radio station here have played any lyrical southern artist. It's even sadder that these dudes from NC, been putting it down for years. This the type hip hop i want to represent the south.

Not back, but they've been so good that I can't get too excited about this track. As for 9th not being on the album, oh well. Get Back was great without him with the exception of the wayne track.

I love this song; it’s the type of track that takes you back. I always thought Little Brother were underrated and never received the things they should.
