For the record, I support Lil Wayne’s movement to conquer other genres…in theory. Every great artist needs to evolve or die, and I’d love to hear Wayne do some serious headbanging, unless said headbanging sounds like On Fire. The new single off his Rebirth album, On Fire is a disjointed combination of some Cool & Dre production that rocks but doesn’t rock hard enough and Weezy’s always schizophrenic vocals and wordplay, which here simply aren’t strong enough to hold the track together. If On Fire is any indication of Rebirth as a whole, we may be looking at the “Michael Jordan plays baseball” portion of Wayne’s career, an admirable but ultimately failed attempt to prove his worth in another game. Then again, the Booth and I don’t always see eye to eye. Anyone disagree? Lil Wayne fanatics will be sure to get their fill of his royal Weezyness later this month when both Rebirth and his compilation album We Are Young Money drop on December 21.

I love it, I love it, I LOVE IT! This song is an instant CLASSIC. Love how they switched up "She's On Fire" from Scarface and its hard to believe Wayne supplied his own guitar riffs, pretty nice! Love the lyrics though, Wayne is on the right track to get Rebirth's success.

You know, it's good that Lil Wayne is stepping outside of his box to do stuff like this. I'm not going to lie, the first two seconds of this song sounded like an 80's song. The production by Cool & Dre is great, but the lyrics are only average. This is pretty hot.

After all the disapointing songs leaked off Rebirth, finally we have a decent track to bump! Although this nowhere near the standard of the material on the carter iii, its still a hot recod! Im very curious of how this album will play out....rotation

After I remembered that it is indeed 2009 and not 1986, I simply forgot to like this record. Catchy... but not nearly enough to please my eardrums.

Universal isn't promoting this album at all... should be interesting to see what happens.

Yeah Z I'm scratching my head why we haven't seen/heard ANY promotion at all for this - I wouldn't be surprised at all to see under 150,000 for the first week...

That being said, this is a pass for me. The concept was pretty cool but it was way too repetitive and sounds too much like his other material for the album. Might bump this up to 3 stars if I turned this up in the ride, but right now I can't really jump on this one.

WTF IS WAYNE DOING TO HIMSELF? This project is a failure artistically. I'll wait for the Carter IV but this foray into rock is not a good look for Mr. Carter. I too would not be surprised to see under 150,000 the first week. The production on this is the only highlight.

@Nathan - That was a good metaphor about Jordan and baseball.

Anyway, Cool & Dre's production was tight (I've come to expect nothing less) and there were parts of this song that I liked in terms of Weezy. I'll rotate it for a little bit probly but it will get old.

I have heard better Lil' Wayne, but lately he seems like he is just having fun and being extremely experimental so I can't hate on that. It's like always taking the job interview even when you know the job is garbage...

Lil Wayne ruined this song the second he opened his mouth... his slurred auto-tune mumbling is inaudible on this. Another great beat done wasted.

Last time I was this angry over sampling was when I first time heard Juelz Santana's "Lets Go".

@Aussie_Pride - I don't think every song needs to be touched (remix or sampled), and Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get it On" is one of them, actually it tops that list.

But personal preference aside, they took it and made nothing but a run-of-the-mill smack talking Hip-Hop joint AROUND it. There are others too which done sampled Original, but I consider this the worst of the lot. They raped the sensuality out off Original. So, yeah I was pissed off! :p

I can't go from eminem to this, it was like "forever" all over again. Em proves he is the best in the game again. I am a big Weezey fan and i know he is trying to switch it up but i have no interest in this. "No Ceilings" was amazing this is just a dud.

The first time I heard this I thought it was a demo that leaked. Really, this is the finished product? Sounds really messy to me.

Plus the first twenty seconds sound like a 80s aerobic video, and no, that's not a compliment.

Without the bass, it sounds like something out of an old street fighter game. I cant understand anything he says other than "gasoline shes on fire" and its repetitive. The real weezy needs to come back

This song has absolutely no flow to it. It sounds like a bunch of random auto-tuned lyrics combined with a choppy and inconsistent beat with Wayne repeating "On Fire" every other breath. Trash.

The production seemed to be pretty well constructed. It sounded messy because Wayne's flow was FAR TOO slow for the majority of the track. About half way he had a little more intensity, but then went soft again. This track woulda been a scorcher if Weeze had brought that Carter I sound, instead we got smoldering coals..

I can't believe the ratings I'm seeing!

The production by Cool & Dre are amazing! Plus I read that Weezy played guitar for this track. Great job by him.

Even though I can understand half of the words he's saying on here it doesn't matter, because vocals aren't really necessary for this track.

I did enjoy the first 13 seconds of this song. It reminded me of an old Street Fighters intro. Haha!
