No, My Darlin’ Baby isn’t the Young Money compilation’s official “dedication track” to the Cash Money CEO. In reality, this newly-leaked track finds Lil Wayne and Drake hitting the studio to try to recapture the vibe that made Best I Ever Had one of the biggest hip-hop hits of ‘09, each rapping the praises (no singing here!) of a certain enchanting female. This track’s MVP, however, is beatsmith Jeremy Skaller, whose classic soul-sampling boardwork should strike a soft note with the old-school set. Though it’s currently unknown which (if any) project My Darlin’ Baby will be included on, it will certainly increase the buzz around the recently-released So Far Gone EP, which is projected to outsell full-lengths by the New Boyz, Lil’ Boosie, and Trick Daddy this week!

Without a doubt, Skaller's production is the highlight here. Wayne and Drake are obviously good (duh!), but you'd be hard pressed to find an emcee who could manage to f*ck up this quality of a record. This should find a home somewhere, its too good to be a leftover leaked track.

The production is without a doubt the highlight of this track here, Z. The flow from both weren't anything special, but the lyrics were pretty illy. Definitely made for an enjoyable listen. A different sound from both, but this was tight.

Ya'll best believe that it’s time to debate on - Who’s the illest on this one? Who came harder on this joint? Whichever the way you want to say it.
Lyric-wise: Its a toss up. Flow-wise: Autotune-less Weezy has the distinct delivery/voice edge over Drake in my opinion right here. So, my vote goes for Wayne. |

Whoa! Where did this come from. This is the best thing I've heard from Wayne in a while. The only problem is the opening of the track takes to long to get into the flow of the song and the lyrics could be better but were solid all around.

the beat is killer, but is it just me or was drake weak on this? I mean he usually stands up when weezys on the track, but i think he was over shadowed on this song.

This record really annoyed me when I first listened to this, just because it was all over the place to me and it couldn't focus on it. I still feel the same way when I listen to it. Wayne and Drake had some pretty good lines in here, but I just don't like the structure or how it's presented.

The beat wasn't conducive to their styles.
However, Juelz Santana/Cam'ron would have absolutely destroyed this beat, prove me wrong. |

Skaller ripped Linda Jones "Can I Dig It" and "Sway Me" off of her "Soul Talkin" CD you hear it on itunes. Produced by her daughter Terry Jones and Helen Bruner. Yall may remember her classic Hypnotized! She is one of the greatest soul singers that ever lived. Linda was a nominated for a 2009 Grammy.

The track is hot...but Wayne and Drizzy should have went harder on this. I agree with Melon that the track is overshining them and you aint never suppose to let the beat outshine you!

This song is okay. Nothing too great. I don't like whoever the girl is in the background who keeps talking. If you try to bump this song she would just annoy you and make you change it. I felt both Drake and Weezy could have brought it harder. The production is definately good. I don't think this will be a song I'm putting on my iPod though. 2 stars.

Drake= My favorite in the game right now. Wayne is a hit and miss to me sometimes. He is in my car all the time, but I don't know if I can say I enjoy him more than Drake.
But, this song was just sick. |
