Never before in the history of hip-hop music (and please feel free to correct me if I am wrong), has there been a buzz surrounding the release of an artist’s new mixtape, which was set to precede the official release of that same artist’s highly-anticipated sixth studio album. Am I right? Good, let’s move forward. On May 13, Lil’ Wayne will drop the third installment of his Carter album series; before that happens, however, he will hook up with The Empire one last time to release The Drought is Over 5: Grand Closing (and just like that… the buzz continues). The 19-track mixtape will feature seven never-before-heard songs from Weezy, including today’s featured joint, I. And people still think Pac has the biggest unheard catalog of music…
I love Lil Wayne's creativity; but I really don't like the production on this beat. Lil wayne is a TRUE Artist in what he does; but that means that he is doing all types of music with all types of beats, experimenting to find the expression he wants to use on the track. This is cool with me; but this is one of those experiments that I just think is OK. I wouldn't go back to this track on the mixtape personally
Yea I wasnt too impressed with this one, but hey i guess when you like 49 out of 50 of an artists songs they doin somethin right. And im sure this was just shit that wasnt good enough for the Carter Tre. Im hopin that song A Milli gets on this mixtape too, you know wayne will come with nothin but fuego on the real album!
lil wayne was tight on these vereses, but i think im goin with druss07 about the hook,it was alright, and dj blaze, lil wayne did it here, but it was kinda ok, he could do a little better.i think im goin about 2.8 or 2.9 here.
H3 FLOW IZ CRAZY...WAYN3S A B3AST!!!! I SAID IT ONC3 N I'LL K33P SAYIN IT CAN'T NOOOOOOOOO OTHA RAPP3R DO IT LIK3 HIM H3 IS TRULY DA B3ST RAPP3R ALIV3 LADI3S N G3NTL3M3N YA DIGG N IF U DON'T THINK SO L3TS S33 IF U CAN NAM3 1 RAPP3R DAT MAD3 71 HIT SONGS N DA Y3AR OF 07 LOL WAYN3 DA STR8 TRUTH YA DIGG
There is probably a reason why some songs have remained in the Weezy vaults for years... Not everything this man does is going to be AMAZING. Even 2pac and The Beatles, two acts who both had EXTREMELY large catalog's, had a few duds here and there. Don't sweat it people, this is just a mixtape cut (as MMoore has so kindly pointed out).
i think its straight... I like his flow on this one... The hook is wack, but over all its a straight song.. When you make soooo many songs, im sure its tough being creative and original on every one... Ya know??
like his flow jus wasnt feelin da song's production r da voice n da background....yea dis not even gud enuff for a mixtape n my opinion cuz i b feelin da mixtapes more den da actual cds....its straight...shit im still jamiin to lollipop so its wateva to me....
Damn this is definately a mixtape track..the beat never changes pace and its a poor selection...but Lil Wayne does his thang as always but still not enough to make me wnna listen to it
Top shit!.. this is one o dat great tracks... Def a rap idol... if he keeps up like this, he might be considered better then Pac, or maybe not. But all in all, this track is tight, theres the sick beat (that gets a lil anoyin later on) and the lyrics (as allways) are SICK!
BRAR, I didn't compare Pac to Lil' Wayne (or vice versa). The comparison was showing that not every song in an artist's catalog is going to be top-notch quality. Pac is my favorite rapper of all-time, but that doesn't mean EVERY song the man did was his best. Hell, if he were alive today he would tell you the same thing.
Pac is to hip hop like Kennedy is to the presidency
made a legend by a few (a few) things they did well
regardless...mix tape songs are nothing like album songs, and even though this isn't the best banger in the world, ill still play it a few times because, hey, its Wayne.
See I Like how Wayne Do him. He Don't Care if his fans aint gunna lyke cuz dey will anyway. He gunna make u luv him. Aint I'm diggin' da song, Da Beat Go.
Hey BRAR, I'm gonna say it straight up...ITS TIME TO START COMPARING WAYNE TO 2PAC. I'm not saying one is better than the other, because they are just very different. But the comparison is warranted because since Pac died, NOBODY has created a buzz for Hip Hop the way Wayne has.
AIGHT WELL LIKE I SAY ON MOST OF MA COMMENTS....LIL WAYNE IS MA FAV. RAPPER...AND HE IS THE BEST RAPPER ALIVE...NOW I LIKE THIS SONG..THE BEAT IS HOT AND EVERYTHING BUT LIKE I SED BEFORE IF LIL WAYNE ON THE TRACK THEN ITS A BANGER
what the hell is he doin...wow dude...weezy is so much better then this...he should stop experimenting man...am i the only one who thinks that all his other songs were sick...didnt think so...man if this wasnt weezy i would rip on him...im still gonna give it a three...its freakin weezy like come on
Z, true, a lot of it wasnt his best work, i agree. but to musicman all i can say is this- yes weezy is creating a lot of buzz, but buzz alone doesnt define an artist. hell, soulja boy is creating a lot of buzz but i think we can all agree that he's not the best mc out there (or even close to it). the real definition of an artist is longevity. i doubt people will still be listening to wayne 10-15 years from now like people listen to pac
Well if you all you niggas
knew who song wyane use for this you would think this was a classic too. He use The Temptations " If I Can't Get Next To You"
