After two long years of flirtation, Lil’ Wayne has finally decided to take us on a date. While showered with frequent mixtapes, incomprehensible guest features, and flimsy album release dates, Weezy fans have remained somewhat patient while waiting for the arrival of The Carter III. On May 13, however, the wait will officially be over (that is, until somebody at one of his labels decides to push back the project and cause mass hysteria). To kick off this celebratory engagement, Wayne’s first single, Lollipop, has made its way inside the DJBooth. Featuring the recently deceased Static Major (R.I.P.) on the hook and producer Jim Jonsin on the keyboards, Wayne uses the voice box to get all R. Kelly on us with this sexual + sweets analogy. So, anyone feel stood up?
Heard this a few days ago and I'm so glad its finally on the booth. I wasnt feelin it as much when i first heard it, but I've listened to this song easily 10 times in the past 2 days and I gotta say......CLASSIC! What people will realize about this track is that it isn't just a regular Lil Wayne song. I think Weezy has taken his appreciation and knowledge of music to formulate this single. This is gonna do big numbers and it's a great way to kick off this new album
We have to be a lot more critical on Weezy than most rappers because he's simply the hottest MC in the industry right now. All of his million featured appearances and mixtapes will mean nothing if he doesn't pull off a classic with "The Carter III." It's about time for him to finally be tested. "Lollipop" is 100% Weezy with the addition of his amazing work with the talk box. I know he can go harder than this, I mean come on...it's Weezy.
The beat is knocking and I mean LITERALLY knocking. What more can I say, May 8 will officially be called Lil' Wayne DAY. Everyone should postponed all releases on that date. I need to go and pre-order this LP. I give this track a 4.5 but I have to round up just because. Watch out for Jim Jonson he has been creeping up quietly for the '08.
took a page from snoop dogg on this 1 ut i was hopin he spit without thvoicebox some where on the track but its still shood do well..video premieres tomorrow gotta let this song grow on me
Is it actually a good choice for a first single ?
I have to admit that production is really catchy, but this T-Wayne effect sux, he shoudve betta rap as he is usually doing... but on the other hand we all know that Weezy can murder basically every beat, he is just tryin to bring something different to the game, something what u neva felt before, like he said
Weezys whole album better not be like this ... i know its diffrent and its cool ... but its not lil wayne, hes better than this, needs more of those crazy ass metaphors in this song... regardless, still deserves 5/5
The Bass is incredible ...
This track is more for the record sale ...
Still wanna hear some of that straight gutta shit from weezy!
yo dis one fresh...im feelin it...tha singin is ON POINT....Rest In Peace Static Major...ur work is well appreciated...anyone remember "Pony" by Genuine or alot of the Pretty Ricky songs?....Static Major wrote them...idk bout producing...but he wuz the writer...but bacc to tha song...its hot...no doubt...cant wait for tha carter III...~
TONE+Chef: more critical? everyone else who uses the voice box but T-Pain gets berated, and no one complains here. I think everyone here is musically lusting after Lil Wayne in a very unhealthy way haha.
This song doesn't do much 4 me
this is a banger definitely but weezy is way better then this...i cant listen to this song and say this shyt is sweet and deserves a 5 after listenin to the other songs hes done... hes done way better but imma give it a 4 for one reason only...
its freakin lil' Wayne
This song is HOT! The beat is nice and smooth and the voice box is hot on almost anyone. Lil wayne's lyrics are flow are pretty much the best today! Classic Track!
I love this song Lil' Wayne is doin' it right here... I love the slow beat and how Lil' Wayne slows it down... This is ma kinda song. I'm gonna be listenin' to dis...
Yea I be callin'.... Yep This is that song I been wait to hear special from Lil' Wayne.... He like that, I love this...
i have listen to this song twice and i must be missing wateva it is yall hearing cus this is one of the most horrible songs weezy has done. its a mess. R.i.P Static
Good song I actually like wayne better with the voicebox as of late. For this song though I will say you have to be in a relaxed mood or you wont wanna hear it
Something about this song really gets me ya'll. I burned it to my CD yesterday morn when I got the zshare for it. And soon as I put it in my car, I caught eye-contact with this fine-ass chick walkin into my apartment. So you best believe I think of that chick everytime i hear this track. It's just smooth, sexy, and with so much swagger. Lil Wayne has surpassed my expectations. Carter III will be different from Carter II just like The Graduation was different from Late Registration. And that's a good thing!
Huge points for being unique. Hook is not only catchy and unique, but hypnotic. RIP Static Major. His lyrics aren't quite as good as usual, but the way he says the stuff is insane. Excellent use of the voice box. "Made that ass jump like "jur jur" lol he makes some crazy noises that really help the song. I gotta give this 5 stars.
well i love lil wayne. his lyrics are crzy and his uniqueness and perspective of music is a variety. this song shows his aspect of a new knd of sound from him.
Lil Wayne is unstoppable, no one can compare to him, no one can catch up to him, Lil Weezy could easily be said to be our nexzt Tupac, or if you dare better? i would say better in my opinion, but thats for the new age music hes putting out. Still Weezy is the best rapper alive!!
this is my sht .. just heard it but i love it .. i mean at times weezy say bullshit .. and not the bestrapper a live just oevr rated and dick ridden all the time .. but i cant deny my nigga say some some bullsht but this right here is a banger ... only thing i dont like on here is that girl in the secoond verse?. .. but weezy keep doin ya thing.. cant wait for the album
This shit right here is gay. His voice is all sythisized and shit. I been anicipatin this song for liek 3 weeks when i finally hear it so gay. it would be much better if it was just his like regular voice.
