In the wake of crossover album Rebirth‘s pushback to June 23, another Lil Wayne record has been leaked to the Internet. Now, you might be wondering what project the newly-released Fix My Hat is attached to (hint: it’s not Rebirth, despite what several blogs would have you believe). Los Angeles Clippers superstar Baron Davis is preparing yet another documentary (possibly a sequel to Crips & Bloods: Made In America), and Fix My Hat has been chosen for the soundtrack. Here, the ever-unpredictable emcee blends elements of his Carter II and Carter III-era flows (without Autotune) over a Drew Money beat that sounds like something Mannie Fresh would have come up with in his Cash Money heyday. A cut with something to offer fans of every stripe, Fix My Hat will undoubtedly pique listeners’ interests regarding the forthcoming film.

Been a while since we had some Weezy on the booth, but I'm glad the wait was worth it. I think the production really made this track because there are a handful of rappers who could have ripped this beat apart.
However, Wayne brought his A- game (not quite A+) and delivered. I like the flow on here and this could actually probably have success as a radio hit. Big up's to Baron Davis too! |

I like that Weezy is trying new stuff (Auto-tune, Rock, etc.) but I definitely like him better rapping like he does on here. The production fit him well, but I've heard better from Wayne. This is rotation for me.

The old-school style production sounds fresh and I like how Weezy cuts the autotune and just goes in. Nothing special but this is still a solid listen..origanl and fresh!

I'm not reallyy feelin this, I guess it could POSSIBLY fit on a soundtrack though? The subject is kinda stupid, but I guess its not really a serious track either, I'm actually reallyy looking forward to some more Weezy rock tracks, Just a matter of timeee...

ummmm i'm not really feelin this. lil wayne can do better. i think this is lazy...with some wack lyrics...but hey, thats just my opinion...it might grow on me though...it's okay. Actually it's already growing on me on the 2nd listen lol.

First of let me say i respect wayne for grind (seems like dude is on 80% of songs out there), and his experimentation with the whole rock-star sound and mentality...flow and lyrically wise he's a hit or miss...so now back to this song

The beat is bangin and this is some good, old school weezy. There really isnt any really bad lines where he rhymes the same words. The chorus isnt great, but this is a great song other than that. Banger

I'm far from being a Wayniac (Lil' Wayne Maniac) but this track goes hard. There's something about the beat that reminds me of Weezy's track "Lisa Marie".

um... if this song is leaked on the net, how is it on this site? they probably diliberately leaked it to raise Lil Wayne's popularity and to test how fast his music circulates to judge how well his new album will do...

heard this last week. pretty good song, its reassuring to hear him rapping again (thank god) ~ don't get me wrong. i like the auto tune but Id rather he rap than anything else. its a good song, good lyrics, pretty addicting beat, overall a banger for sure

@PattyPatty85 and @mmoore1127 - i disagree with both of you. This production is flame. And Weezy goes hard. But, he can come harder. And...well, for God's sakes, he's singing a song about his hat??? Need something with more substance. But, for what it is, it's good. I am a Wayne fan, and know he can come harder, but this can't be compared to his other tracks. After all, we're not rating the artist; we are rating the track. And the track is very good.

@Bowwserr - Wayne is one of my 5 favorite artists right now (I don't have a #1 favorite artist, I have 5 of them!), so I'm definitely rating the song and not the artist. After a few more listens this song is a little catchy, but lets be real, its a mixtape track at best (or in this case a soundtrack). Anyways I would bump my rating up to 3 stars....that is if I could!
