Lil Wayne - Da Da Da
Artist: Lil Wayne
Producer: Cool & Dre
Album: Rebirth
Label: Cash Money/Universal Motown
In my intro for Lil Wayne’s last single On Fire I wrote that Weezy’s attempt to infiltrate the rock game with his upcoming album Rebirth was like Michael Jordan’s attempt to play baseball, an admirable but ultimately doomed idea. I’d like to take this moment to apologize to MJ for that analogy. As much as Jordan struggled on the diamond he never produced anything as bad as Da Da Da, a barely comprehensible and muddied mixture of Cool & Dre’s music-box-meets-rock-band production, Wayne’s painfully off-key vocals and some rough draft vocals (did he really just say “give me that funky monkey”?). Even when Weezy goes back to his rap roots at the end of the track he sounds off, not flowing with anything approaching his normal dopeness. I could keep going but I don’t want to ruin the self esteem of anyone who actually likes this pile of Da Da Da. Let’s just say my hopes aren’t high for Rebirth, due to drop on December 21.

I really am just speachless what made Wayne ever think this was going to be a good idea. I would truely rather listen to Christmas music

I think this is a better track then On Fire, mainly because the production actually sounds like something made by a rock band instead of sounding like something made on F&L Studio (like every other track made on Rebirth.

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit...
Is it too late for Universal to scrap this release and commercially unveil a longer version of "No Ceilings" over original production (to eliminate copyright issues)? Pretty please. |

I was shokced at the low reviews of On Fire, that song was AMAZING! However, I highly encourage low reviews of this.

haha this review is hilarious
anyone who likes this crap that wayne is putting out for Rebirth clearly is a wayne d1ck rider, and needs a better taste in "rock" music, even the rap verse was pretty bad i'd be surprised if Rebirth sold over 75k, well maybe not surprised, but ashamed |

For the record, I respect Wayne experimentin and tryin new things. But damn, he has got to have something better than this. There were catchy bits and pieces to his last three "rock" singles and I think he could actually make a good song, but this was just a mess. Very low 2 star rating. Production wasn't terrible though.

Lil Wayne has always been garbage. His last great song was Sky Is The Limit. Ever since then hes gone to mainstream and just entertains teenage girls that wouldnt know good music if it f**ked them in the ass.

Garbage! Wayne is brave to try making music in a different genere but I don't know if he's just getting cocky or lazy(maybe the syrup just messed his head up).

somehow, each track that he drops off of rebirth gets worse. He should just drop the project and go back on his mixtape grind. I think I speak for everybody when I say bring back Lil Wayne the rapper

This track was approaching OK status. Its artistic with some throwback references. But the chorus is just awful. I think Wayne is too big for this album to get pulled, but I suggest they make limited copies. The only sales will be misguided Wayne d**kriders trying to keep up with whats popular. I guarantee some of my friends will claim lyrical brilliance and memorize the rap verse.

I had assumed with Lil Wayne's access to the best and brightest in music he'd recruit some real rock talent to help him on Rebirth. I was wrong. No one on either side of the rock/rap aisle would possibly find this listenable.

Lil' Wayne & Universal f#cked up bad with this Rebirth situation. They shoulda just kept it real and did the re-release the Carter III they were originally going to do. then maybe we would have gotten Tha Carter III instead of this crap...
This song isnt as bad as everyone says it is, but knowing what wayne is capable of, this is a big disapointment. |

honestly the production is not bad. seems likes this would fit the electronic pop dance scene. throw in pitbull and drop the music box for waynes regular voice and it might actually be better

DAMN! I think this is the lowest rated Lil' Wayne song of all time on DJbooth.net! I am really looking forward to Rebirth (an 80's inspired rock album...what else could you want?), but I hope its all better than this. This track isn't completely trash if you like Rock 'n Roll. The guitar riffs are pretty cool and Lil Wayne rapping wasn't bad. I commend Wayne for doing something that no other rappers have the balls to do.

Sweet Holy Baby Geezus wit a Funky Monkey...WTF was that!! I mean JUST WOW! Man Wayne, what in the hell are you tryin to do to me. I have been on yo side helping to support the rock cause against a quickly surmounting opposition but then you go and do this. I need to apologize to MosDef by saying that Lil Wayne was tryin to take his music down MosDef's alley with just some unique off kilter ish! (Like SuperMagic, or No Hay Nada Mas when he went str8 spanish on it) At least Mos had a meaning and purpose behind going off paved roads. I actually thought On Fire was worse than this one which doesn't say much for either tracks. Dude, Universal, Wayne or both of them need to throw in the towel wit dis ish! I nearly fell out my chair when that hook came in!

Lil Wayne is not a failed rockstar..
Prom Queen and hot revolver were good songs, however this song sounded more drum and base than rock. I think his rock album would of been better if he rapped on rock beats like he did in my office, instead of trying to sing on em |

It boggles my mind how people can come in here and rate this track as garbage but praise every mediocre song that gets posted just because the artist has "content" and "meaning" in their lyrics, or just because the artist isn't well-known. Honestly, there are much worse tracks on the first page alone than this.
I'd go so far as to say that if you don't admit that the production on this track was banging, then you have bad taste in music. Listen to that guitar riff. As for Wayne's contribution, yes, it's on the lower end of his catalogue as far as quality goes. But one star? Seriously? |

I can't lie. The beat, Smacks. It really does. Give the song another listen. The production for this song is just as loose and stringy as the lyrics, unfortunately for Wayne.

@i.heart.piracy: don't start this kind of useless accusations, this is one of the most hater-free sites on the internet, people really judge the music and basically don't give a fvck about artist's personal life and status (to compare, just go to ANY blog or youtube).
This song is really awful. If the riff is good, so what? I play guitar myself and appreciate it, but it was just thrown into this mess of a beat. Everything about this song is a travesty! I have nothing against Lil Wayne willing to make a rock album (as long as it sounded like "Stuntin' Like My Daddy" remix or "Best Rapper Alive" for example), but this is "rock" in the same sense "Tik Tok" (a hit record, check Billboard) is a rap song. Lil Wayne's performance is not human, and I don't mean Martian. I mean garbage, pure mercenary crap with no musical drive behind it at all!!! |
