The self-proclaimed ‘Voice of the Young People,’ Lil’ Mama, is back with another new single before the end of the year. Following the buzz-worthy hit, Lip Gloss, and the rather-disappointing, G-Slide Tour Bus, is Make It Hot. Over a waning horn section Mama comes on the mic sounding like vintage Erykah Badu; ten seconds into the song, however, that comparison is long gone. What helped Lil’ Mama achieve mainstream notoriety and a recording contract with Jive Records is her ability to spit rhymes. Thus, she would be wise to kick the singing and stick to what works best for her: rap.
Dang! If she comes out with this type of song, I think she might get dropped by Jive; but who knows, the young people might really be feeling it. It's not pure garbage, but It's not even really catchy.
first off the intro is to long. I think lil mama has talent but is forced to dumb down her music. anybody else thinks she looks like a younger version of mc lyte notice i said look not rap like.
Lil' Mama needs to use here talent to its potential! This girl can spit for real but why does she always get hooked up with the wackiest beats? And what's with the Erykah Badu sound-alike on the chorus? This is what happens when artists sign to a major label and drift away from their roots.
