Lil Jon - Pop That
Artist: Lil Jon
Featuring: Sean Garrett
Producer: DJ Montay
Album: Crunk Rock
Label: Little Jonathan Inc.
After a whopping three years’ worth of delays, Lil Jon‘s solo debut is set to finally hit store shelves in March of 2010. Well, tentatively set to hit store shelves… If there’s one thing that will ensure his album drops before the world ends (2012 isn’t that far off, folks!) it’s a club smash, and the Crunk King’s hoping that this newly-released single will fit the bill. Over DJ Montay‘s mid-tempo instrumental, driven by staccato synths and string stabs, Jon asks all the ladies in the spot to “Pop That p*ssy and shake that ass” for his viewing pleasure. Guest singer Blaze supplements the headliner’s characteristically hyped-up howls with some smoother hook and backing vocals, as well as inviting females to “Shake it like Beyoncé, shake it like a dog…” on the middle verse (I assume he’s offering two different options, not comparing B. to a wet dog). This track’s dancefloor-packing potential is obvious, but will it provide the push Lil’ Jon’s forthcoming full-length needs? As always, I’ll leave it to Booth readers to make the final call.

I cannot enjoy this record on my laptop or my desktop, but at the club... without a doubt.
I highly doubt you'd find yourself not smiling (while watching females go wild to Jon's voice) when the needle drops on this one. Shouts to BF! |

I dont really like Lil Jon as a rapper, so i was never expected a great track.
Production is dope from Montay (who's a very underrated producer). When did Lil Jon stop producing his own stuff? |

This is a solid track from Jon, I'm liking the direction hes going in for this album, as far as the leaked tracks go.
I just wish this was a little cleaner though, lol. |

Made for the clubs! Sean Garrett doesn't sound very good on this track though. The hook is actually quite bad, but strangely catchy.

Sean Garrett is an excellent writer, but his voice is rather annoying... always has been... that's why he's nicknamed "The Pen" and not "The Voice"... Lil Jon makes me laugh with his rapping ability, but this'll do aight at the clubs

I don't know how Lil Jon got so old so fast, but I feel like this would have been a smash in 2005, but today? It sounds a little dated, Luda was doing pop that pu**y tracks years ago.

So, this is Lil Jon's latest attempt to re-establish himself with some more focusing on female agility on the lyric end. A typical Lil Jon club song that come with instructions. Problem is it SOUNDS so dated, following the same pattern that was 2005 instead of creating a new sound for 2009 with same "content". Okay at very best.

"Pop that p*ssy and shake that ass". What's up with this line. Although it sounds better when Lil Jon says it compared to Weezy. Club banger for sure definately won't bump this anywhere else. But as a club song its golden.

thats the only problem. is that it it doesnt sound dated, it IS dated. he needs a new chrous without the "pop that" cuz like u guys said, Luda was doin that a long time ago. I say this is a one line chorus correction away from bein a smash. DJ Montay killed the beat. this is close, but not quite there yet Lil Jon. btw, no one is lookin for a MAJOR comeback from u more than i am.

I guess this will be a hit in the clubs but nothing I'll have on repeat. Tight song for what it's intended for I guess. I'll give it a 3.
Btw - I've waited for this album forever... He needs to hurry the hell up. There better not be another delay haha. |

no doubt this will bang in the club but it's nothing special ... i gotta disagree with you if you think sean garretts vocals arent on point, this track may not be the best highlight of that but he has an AMAZING voice and i kinda liked him on here

This song is horrible. Lil Jon has no lyrical ability, and the sound is nothing new.

Hot beat by Montay but the lyrics destroy this song. Lil Jon has failed to make the comeback that he needs to bring crunk back.
