To be completely honest, there’s been a lot of debate around the DJBooth offices about posting Lil B. On one hand the former Pack member is undeniably a phenomenon, but on the other odes to Wonton Soup don’t exactly meet our quality standards. Debate over. In a move undoubtedly targeted at those who doubt his hip-hop credentials, new record Base in Your Face finds B linking with legendary producer 9th Wonder for a lushly soulful beat that ingenuously incorporates a “thank you based god” clip. Lyrically B delivers a hard-to-hate-on verse that also works in some shots at the purists undoubtedly freaking out right now: “All they do is rhyme words, typical rappers.” As if that wasn’t enough, Phonte more than capably spits over a 9th beat for the first time since Little Brother’s breakup and Jean Grae joins in on the festivities in typically fearless style. Base for Your Face isn’t (yet) part of a larger project, just something to get the people talking, as I’m sure they will be in the comments below. Have at it people. Oh, and I almost forgot…swag.

Lil B's first verse was decent! But his second verse sucked. Overall good song though, but that second verse is something miserable lol Lil B still isnt good in my eyes but he definitely has become a phenomenon for this year lol Dope beat.

UMMMM, what was all the uproar about with base god, again? his verse didnt send do SHIT 4 ears like the sound of ELZHI's verses on HIDING PLACE...or annnnny OTHER joint el has been on, or..... RICK ROSS'S verse on MOLASSES(raekwon) so ummm...... i give it a 4 cause phonte AND jean saved the damn track. the BEAT did its own thing tho. next time, LISTEN 2 the damn VERSES b4 u go APE SHIT. have a nice day
