One of the major traditions in hip-hop is paying tribute to its “fallen soldiers;” while most will mention 2Pac and B.I.G. as the most revered members of this category, many females feel the same way about Aaliyah and Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes.  Come January 27th, the TLC alumnus will be honored with a posthumous album, Eye Legacy composed of remixes and previously-unreleased songs. If some of you recognize some vocals from the new single, Block Party, that’s because it’s a remix of her first and only solo single (off Supernova).  While most of Lopes’ raps are retained, Surefire and Marcus DL provide a brand new, up-tempo beat, with Clyde McKnight singing the hook.  What will attract most listeners, however, is modern-day femcee Lil’ Mama‘s contribution to the festivities.  While others may see it differently, I consider Block Party one of the few posthumous songs that does justice to the dearly-departed original. RIP Lisa Lopes (May 27, 1971 – April 25, 2002).

I remember when Left Eye came out and she changed her name. I wasn't really feelin her new style. It was a little eccentric. This sounds like something off of that era.
This production sounds good but it has an early 2000's vibe to it.
Lil' Mama has a good flow meshed in w/ Left Eye's overall style. Clyde has good energy.

RIP Left Eye!!!

Hmmm. I do not think Left Eye would have been happy wit this. I like the collabo with Lil Mama, I never really compared them but they are kind of similar. Chorus is alright, but this ones just ok

I love the production work, I miss Left Eye, but I have not missed hearing Lil Mama.

This gets rotation because it can be played in multiple spots (club, comp speakers), but I would have loved to hear an emcee like RA or even Shawnna on here.

Nope. I REALLY like the original beat ALOT better. This beat takes ALOT away for me. And I don't like the hook very much at all either.

Not good - compared to the tunes Lisa Lopes did, hopefully they won`t release this to the mainstream.
