Laza Morgan - One by One
Artist: Laza Morgan
Producer: Julian Bunetta and DJ Frank E
Album: One by One EP
Label: Elektra/Atlantic
Reggae-pop singers are one flighty bunch when it comes to romance on the dancefloor. Often, a simple sideways glance and a few smooth moves are enough to set their hearts aflutter. Booth newcomer Laza Morgan, for one, prefers to take things slow (relatively speaking, anyway); instead of expressing his undying devotion after a single dance, the Michigan-bred up-and-comer (son of Jamaican legend Denroy Morgan) is willing to let attraction simmer as the DJ spins his favorite songs, One by One. DJ Frank E and Julian Bunetta team up behind the boards, crafting a slow-burning blend of synths and reggae guitar riffs as attraction grows between Morgan and the shawty in question. In contrast to the headliner’s measured approach, dancehall stalwart Mavado gets right down to business, making the object of his affections “feel [his] love” in his Caribbean-accented guest 16. Time for you to weigh in, readers – does this joint have you falling in love at first sight, or does Laza have to walk by again? Either way, you’ll find One by One and much more on the Elektra signee’s forthcoming EP of the same title, set to drop May 17.

Super catchy tune with replay-ability. "One By One" is a dime-a-dozen radio record with major pop appeal, but if he can make several of these Mr. Morgan will be a household name by late summer.

This song has that Billy Ocean vibe going on. I would not have chosen Mavado on the guest 16, I am thinking Shaggy would have been the best selection over this production.

This is hot! The beat moves and nicely and hits hard, the verse lyric is simple yet effective and the chorus lyric is classic. Love the melody throughout. Also loving the Mavado feature, especially after 2, 3 listens.

I can definitely see this song getting alot of airtime. It definitely fits with the weather warming up, and should become pretty radio-friendly. However, jus because it gets played on the radio doesn’t make it good. The beat and hook are super catchy, but Movado's verse is kind of weak. This song isn’t great, but it is good enough to get some airtime.

True this is a catchy song, but I wasn't feeling this too much. I can def see this being on the radio, and a summertime jam but not my style of music.

Can you say summer smash? He has a strong voice and this was a good choice of production. I don't mind Movado as a feature but the track can stand on it's own.

definite top 40 song with lots and lots of radio spins. It's one of those songs that will only get more popular over time because as catchy as it is, it doesn't seem like it will become annoying after 3 months of extended replay.
