Considering the stage name, I probably don’t need to tell you that rapper LA and his partner, producer/hookman, Mr. Music hail from… Chicago? Huh. That’s a little unintuitive. So, does that mean their first Booth feature, The Fire, earned its name by being the opposite of hot? Nah – in this case, the obvious interpretation does indeed hold true. Here, Mr. Music’s innovative instrumental, a pensive mix of aggressive percussion, string stabs and syncopated vocal samples, sets the stage for an epic round of braggadocio from the headliner and a few equally talented collaborators. Lending a hand on the guest tip, fellow Windy City representatives Gio and S-Preme, along with Vegas native (and recent Best of the Booth staff pick) Nique, jump on board to lace the beat with their own respective brands of lyrical fire. Does this no-nonsense underground banger leave you wondering what else LA and Mr. Music have up their sleeves? Then keep it locked – details on the duo’s forthcoming project have yet to be announced, but fans can, of course, keep it locked for all the latest news and tunes.

Ahh, we've arrived at the classic "The title of the song perfectly describes the song itself" moment. Mr. Music crafts some Kanye-esque production (yup, I said it) and the emcees all handle it with the greatest of ease. Very enjoyable.

From beginning to end, very enjoyable, now the only question is who had the best verse?!?!? Also Mr.Music is a beast on the hook (Which, fun fact, S-Preme helped co-write!)

Wow, what a track. Having four artists on one track and having them all do a fantastic job is something worthy of praise. Mr. Music was great on the hook. I think L.A. had the best verse of the three, but thats just me.

Glad DJBooth finally featured a LA/Mr. Music song. I've been high on them for a while dating back to their "What Do You Do?" album which showed they can bring a breath of fresh air to the r&b/pop genre. From the hook to the verses, this is fire (pun intended). Theirs some talented young cats coming from the Chi, just listen to some other songs from S-Preme. I agree with Z, this does have a Kanye-esque sound to it. No complaints about this song, it's a banger from start to finish.

This is one of the best songs i've heard in a while period. The production is ridiculous as well as the lyrics. Looking forward to hearing more from them soon.

Man, this is personally one of the most hit or miss days I can remember on the Booth. When I'm not feeling a track I'm really not feeling it, but when I am....
That beat's "less is more" at its best, and every emcee predictably comes something a little more than correct. Dopeness. |

Wow this is the only song of the day that can even touch my Jarren high.
@Z, I agree, this is some Kanye-esque production right here. I can hear this as a Good Friday's release. Good emceeing by good emcees over a good production. This is actually "FIRE" |

"you can get with this, you can get with that". Track is phat, old hip hop flava late 80's early 90's. I am grooving it.

Catchy and hard in the same song. Not easy, but well done here. Nice to hear from Nique.

It seems like I misjudged this song in the first 30 seconds. The beat kinda annoyed me at the beginning, but once it fell behind the lyrics, it was less noticable and didn't subtrct from the experience like I though it might. The real turning point was when L.A. beautifully embedded that "Billie Jean treatment" MJ reference. Blew my mind. 3.5.
