Knock, knock. “Who’s there?” Kyle Lucas “Kyle Lucas, who?” Kyle Lucas the Atlanta emcee and Vonnegutt frontman, here to tell you more about his personal struggles on a fresh EP leak. OK, so my knock-knock jokes might need a little work. Regardless, standout cut Let Me In finds Lucas locked, loaded and ready to spill his guts to anyone who’ll open the door. Project collaborator Captain Midnite mans the boards, combining Chipmunked soul samples with rock instrumentation as the freestyle alum takes aim at all those who ever presumed to know better than him regarding the direction of his career. The harshest words comes from guest feature Sol: “Only been rappin’ for half my life, so how you gon’ act like I just grabbed the mic / and go and nitpick at my rhymes, tell me what to do and take half my dime?” Though withstanding the industry pressures has clearly been no picnic, the uncompromising attitude Lucas and friends showcases here can only bode well for his future prospects. Complete with Midnite‘s infectious hook vocals, this is just one of many quality cuts included on Lucas and Midnite’s The Sky Is Falling and I’m Fine EP, available for purchase online following a free, 48-hour preview in the Booth.
