Now that I live in L.A. the summer nights frankly aren’t that much different from the winter nights, but I still remember the joy of Summer Nights on the east coast when the heat dissipated and the city came alive. It’s a feeling that K.V. (Kareem Victorious) knows only too well on his DJBooth debut as producer Rick Mills loops a cool and smooth guitar line to relaxing effect. Mix in a tempered but still strong flow from the headliner and guest artist Shavar Rush and you’ve music that demands to be played on a stoop near you once the sun goes down. Real nice vibe, strong on the mic, pleasing record. Not sure this would be the sonic soundtrack to my own personal summer nights, but for some I am sure it works.
