2008 will indeed be an extremely busy year for multi-talented musician Ryan Leslie. Along with the release of his looong-anticipated debut album, currently set for June 17, Leslie’s best-known NextSelection signee, Cassie, is set to drop her sophomore effort (led by Official Girl), which will be followed by the release of yet another young female protégé, Krys Ivory. On her debut single, Next 2 You, the young singer covers most of the same subject matter as her labelmate; however, Ivory’s distinct advantage is a stronger set of pipes. With its soft piano production, as well as a 16-bar rap verse from R. Les, Next 2 U might soon cuddle up to your eardrums.
The track is actually better than the picture led me to believe. Next Selection has quite the knack for finding attractive artists with mediocre singing talent. But this girl actually has some decent chops. It's actually somewhat refreshing compared to what's comparable out there; it's a good slow pace and simple beat. I'll reserve judgement until I hear another track from her, her voice has potential.
Krys Ivory is very cute-physically and vocally. This is the great mix of vocals and production to get radio play and be a summer favorite. I can dig it. But in the future, I hope to hear something more original.
Ryan leslie is makin some noise on the R&B scene! I kinda like this song! Lil mama has a very pure tone! Good recording voice, cute. This will work! Not my style, but this can work. 3.5
Ok, I may not remember this song’s melody by tomorrow, but I won’t forget it’s name… damn, what’s with that repetitive chorus?!? I don’t really like her voice, she sounds like a 13/14 year old girl, so I expect she’ll develop it. How old is she by the way? Tiffany Evans would make this song a lot better and she’s 15. It’s just ok.
It's not a bad song, but yeah I'm with FredRico, her voice isn't that good...but better than Cassie's, no?! If there's space for Cassie, there MUST be space for Krys, too. I think that Next Selection's songs are all the same...this could be a song by Cassie, and a song by Cassie could be one by Ryan Leslie (for example Addiction, which is similar to Me & You)!

Ryan Leslie is makin' some noise in the music game here lately. Krys has a good voice, but this sounds like a "cookie cutter" type of song. In rotation for the production, Ryan's verse.
Okay, time for a DJ Z PSA: Pop music isn't a specific sub-genre of R&B or Rap! "Pop music" is music that has the ability to be spread across multiple genres and cater to the... get ready for it... POPULAR audience. NextSelection has the 'pop' music game on lock; see Leslie's "Diamond Girl" as an example. Ivory is a new artist... she might even be popular before we know it.
Nice beat.. I mean, da chorus maybe not da best but still a good track!! However I feel as though R-Les should've spit a better verse or it shold've had another artist on da track...
i love krys ivory...been diggin her for a minute now. im not really feelin this song that much frm her, but its still alrite. i really love a kinda old song of hers called "right there."
