KRS-One and Buckshot’s new album Survival Skills does better than merely survive, it inflicts the kind of lyrical damage only truly dope emcees are capable of inflicting. The album’s last song to be featured on DJBooth is Clean Up Crew, a banger that I previously described as “the album’s grimiest.” With typically muscular verses from, KRS, Buckshot and feature artist Rock of Heltah Skeltah (if only Sean Price was part of the crew), and production worthy of a military operation from illmind, Clean Up Crew gives hip-hop a much need clean sweep. If only wack hip-hop could really be washed away so easily. Survival Skills was released Sept. 15, on Duck Down Records and is available in stores and online now.

This is indeed one of the album's "grimiest" tracks. And you know what? I like grimey. N.O.R.E used to do "grimey" real well, as does Heltah Skeltah. For KRS and Buck, this is a walk in the park.

My score? They knock it out the park.

They may call him old, but how many rappers would be willing to battle KRS? There aren't many. Add in Rock and Buckshot and this track is a beast.

Appropriately titled because lyricism on display by these artists outshines many of their peers.

Diggin': EVERYTHING. KRS and Buckshot are LEGENDS, Rock does well here, and as a closet classical music aficionado, I'm REALLY diggin' the string sample (Sounds like NFL Films music-if it were me on the beat, I'd spit about the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field!)

Not Diggin': Not a damn thing.

HA "Guess who's the quicker picker-upper" Best line of the song! Another banger, man this week is dope. The production is dark and heavy on this track which is where KRS does best, and as always his lyrics are crazy.
