Like many of the best rappers in the game, new emcee Kovas hails from Brooklyn. But before you group him with any other artist, first take note of his unique sound. Taking cues from hip-hop, soul, and rock, he has created a new, hip-shaking number. The self-produced song incorporates elements from his Latin-African heritage, including an Arabic-sounding violin that decorates the wavy synth beat. Kovas spits nimbly about being so fly that he has to Wax On, Wax Off, a phrase made famous by Mr. Miyagi in Karate Kid, but used here to define the swag of his custom clothes and rides. The song has proven to be a hot commodity, as it is featured on both Kovas’ new EP, Reagan Babies, and the soundtrack for Madden NFL ’09.
This is one unique song!! The beat cant be described because it has so much mixture of genres..its catchy but kinda repetitive and annoying after a while. The chorus is average and the lyrics is ok. Nonetheless unique but needs some work. 2.5
lyrics ruined the beat. wanted to hear some new differeent original beat. i finally hear it n the chorus n lyrics jus raped the beat ( bad way ) :( @*#$! song
That game sucks. I am a Huge madden fan, but they ruined it this year. I was highly disappointed. This sounds like a video game song. Not bad. It serves it purpose only gotta listen to it until I pick my squad, PACKERS!!! HEADS! You take ball first. I'll guard the end against the wind.
i actually totally disagree with scripter and see it the other way...Beats are hot and unique but the lyrical content does not match the eccentricity of the song
Wow this track is soo original! I love the production, so catchy and energic, and I also like his flow...to me it's in rotation! The only thing a bit annoying is that he repeats too much the title...but well it seems a new trend so I'll get used to it I guess
I dig the difference influences within this record. Frankly, DJBooth is a big fan of anything that is out even slightly out of left field. There are way too many copycats out there and Kovas is not among them. I liked the line in the movie more, but this is creative.
