Revolution is in the air, my friends – and I’m not talking about the stale rhetoric wafting from FOX News’ resident rabblerousers. No, this popular movement is being spearheaded by Chi-Town hip-hop trio Ko*Starz. Back on our front page following a six-month absence, Young Starr, K. Rich and R. Dott make their entrance into the political arena with Revolt, leak numero uno off their forthcoming street album. Over Booth-approved beatsmith Slot-A‘s appropriately fiery, retro-informed synth boardwork, the Starz deliver a soulfully outraged tirade against the U.S. war machine, asking the tough (if obvious) question, “Why send more soldiers in, when we don’t even know if we’re going to win?” Even if you’re not quite ready to grab your pitchforks/torches and march on Capitol Hill, the track’s sentiment is a refreshing one. And, hey, maybe it’ll convince those “Tea Party Rappers” to step their game up (‘cause seriously guys, this is neither fresh nor dope). If you like what you’re hearing, you can find plenty more warm-weather jams on the Starz’ Summer Solstice mixtape, set to drop before the season’s end

The up-tempo beat was much appreciated as were the vocals submitted by these guys. I really enjoyed the overall sung portion of the song the most, but verses were nicely done. Not much left to say, this was a good track.

Nice track. I didn't like the slow breakdown of the beat during the verses but once it kicks up again for the hook, the song was nice.

interesting lead-in beat, nodding my head when it kicked in. the vocals let me down though, they didnt match the tempo of the beat.

I like the direction their going in. This really showcases the vocals because it sounds like the vocals are turned up alot higher than the music. The vocals are on point, in addition to the rap verse. Beats cool though.

I didn't know where they were headed with this after the first 30 seconds, but over the course of the track it started to make sound. Unfortunately I just didn't connect with this one - it's a little too electro for my tastes - but I have to give it up to Ko Starz for the original sound. Nicely done.

Am I the only one who is hearing these off notes? Maybe they are singing off tune on purpose. Beat is ok. Although I have never heard of them before, they are trying to put a message in a weird song. IDK bout this one Peoples!

Wtf is this garbage. Production is not retro it is awful. Sounds like a gay dance club song. Lyrics are so transparent and terrible flow.

this track is all over the place, id let it ride if i heard while i was tuning the radio, but i dont think its something id play on a regular basis. Props to Ko Starz for an original thought tho!

I would love to hear this song in some live speakers at a dance hall. This song really gets me dancing from play.
But more importantly, I Love the message! what a cool concept. I wonder how many people Really "got" all the lyrics. |
