With the music industry headed towards a digital-only era, artists must learn to take advantage of the rapidly changing culture in music. For instance, Chicago rap group Ko*Starz, who have been compared to (and endorsed by) fellow hometown acts The Cool Kids and Gym Class Heroes, noticed that they received a flirty New Text Message… and it’s from your girlfriend! Similar in content to The-Dream‘s I Luv Your Girl (but far less guilt-inducing), this P-Dott produced single should be a hit among teenage trendsters. If pop hits aren’t your style, though, you may still want to check out what what else these Midwestern boys have to offer on their debut album, Let’s Go, currently set for release sometime this year.
When did Chicago become Atlanta? The beat kind of goes hard, but the topic and rappers are lame as ever. The flows are okay I suppose, but the hook is definitely super trash. If it came on in the right setting, I could get down with it like a V.I.C track, but not just for regular listening. I'll throw it in rotation tonight though. (Foul like a flagrant........booooo! Dude's ending delivery was mad boring)
Beat goes hard and I like the crisp sound and the nice flow with funny lyrics. A couple of em kinda sounded like MIMS. I love when I actually hear some good chicago artists on here. Like the hook, sound, and verses. A very unexpected banger.
No Please. This does not do much for me at all. The only part I liked was the fast rapping towards the end. If it wasent for that I would of gave this a 1.
I personally like the beat here, it's energic and catchy! I'm not feeling him, though. Not that he flows bad, but he doesn't get on well with the beat! If I were the rapper, I would have called someone to sing some passages, in order to make the song less monotonous! This is a bit boring, to me it's ok
Trendy, yes. Creative, kinda. Catchy, hell yeah. These boys got some HUGE co-signs, so let's so how they can put that into the bank and churn out some more hits the rest of the year...
MH throw Florida in there. Lyrics are weak but the beat is nice. It's too simple (anyone could do this). If the delivery was different then we could have a better song.
#1- The beat is simple, but lets not under estimate the impact of simplicity. You definately can't hate on THIS, when u got HIT songs like "Knuck if you buck" & "White tee" and soilja boy does @*#$! like this, endlessly.
#2. The song itself is great. Through out the whole song, all these guys do is, Keep It Real! And how can u hate on that? I don't know how old some of yall are thats leavin these comments, but @*#$! I'm like 20 and this is @*#$! thas happenin forreal. Yea it might not be a "classic" as far as music in a whole is concerned, but when u got niggas like, Soilja Boy comin in and takin over the industry, talkin bout "superman that hoe" and "ya @*#$! ya" (songs that are becoming HITS) I feel that its a new day n age. People don't sit around for hours writing melo dramatic ass songs anymore. Its about fun, relatable music u can vibe to... (take weezys "Lollipop" for example) If u want some "meaningful" heart felt @*#$! go listen to some Lupe, Common or Keyshia Cole. But yall gotta understand that not everybody is looking for the same things outta music. Some people wanna hear a hot track and laugh a lil while bein entertained. And this is exactly what this song does for me. @*#$! tha haters. Keep up tha good work Ko*Starz, I'm wit yall ALL the way... Can't wait to hear this in the club!!
#3. Before you judge THEM as a group (off of one @*#$! song) yall shud check out some of their other @*#$!. They're topics are crazy and fresh.

yooo forget all the hatred, all this wack talk or wat have you, this song is fresh as hell! this group is fresh as hell matta fact. the song is fun, catchy and creative. how can u hate on creativity?? i bet all the people that are dissin this track, are the same ones that be supermanin dat hoe and yuullin and all that! anyway this track is hot and i love it, got it as my ringtone. u should too! peace.
I wud bump this @*#$! fasho! I'm feelin shortys comment above- the song is hott, and that beat go hard as hell. But to that first comment, man, u can't critisize the midwest for takin a different approach on a track! @*#$!, if u in da music industry u gotta go for what's hot, and in the past the midwest has had a lotta trouble sayin on top. What rappers do they really have? Most of them have fallen off. Point is- you can neva hate on a nigga for the type of music he make. There aint no rules when it it comes to hip hop! @*#$!, take Common for example. This nigga had to switch his swag cuz that common sense @*#$! wasn't cuttin it no mo. Its 2008, people want different @*#$!. This song is hott. I give it 4
Anyone can do this easy beat but they thought of it and it goes. Their voices match perfect with the background beat. Do yo thang Ko*Starz. This is hot and not a classic but i gotta give it love becuase there is so much haters on here not understanding this is the new generation of music.
all yo boyfriendz b text-n me REAL TALK. haha. but yeea DIS iz catch-e....i kinda like it. da beat simle but gud and i like their rap-n....i dunno- itz in rot.
Wow, i'm baffled by the hate! But anyway, this song is hot...and i feel like people aren't looking at the big picture here...
-The music industry is is about creativity and bringing something new to the table...and this indeed is something new.
-Ol' girl is right, it's a new day n age...it's called 2008 folks. Clearly a vast majority of the population like listening to catchy, simplistic, and fun songs (insert Soulja Boy success)...when we have like 51 CRANK DAT songs that are becoming hits, there's absolutely NO reason why a song like this (which actually sounds good...and not like it was done in someone's baby mama's BASEMENT) shouldn't be appreciated...
-This beat goes HAAAARD! Maybe some of yall should invest in some better speakers...i mean, any song is boring wit faulty ass speakers wit no bass
-The purpose of a DEBUT song, is to catch people's attention...and ur attention has CLEARLY been caught, i guarantee a LOT of u are gonna have this so-called "trash/boring" hook stuck in ur head...so let's just keep it 100.
Tha Ko*Starz are definitely doin they thang and bringin somethin fresh to the industry and i'm @*#$! LOVIN IT!! Keep up the good work fellas!!
this is my first day on the on site.. i heard about it from a friend.. im glad that you guys give support to artist that arent mainstream lol i really am.
When Laffy Taffy came out I re-made that beat in 27 seconds. I can prolly make this beat in 15 seconds. BUT...I like this one better than Laffy Taffy. I think the quality is good and everything and i think the dude has skills on the mic but i think they could use some better beats.. other than the beat its hot
I feel like you guys are so accustomed to all this bullshit hip hop garbage that you dont hear something different and catchy in the Ko*Starz. I'd rather listen to them than any other up and coming rapper(s) making these one hit club wonders and talking about the same @*#$! over and over. Hoes, pills, and money gets REALLY OLD. You dont like New Text Message? Listen to New Neighbors, pop in 18 and Up, hop on Jump On It and you will not be disappointed!K-Rich like I told you, doing you is what got you this far, keep it going!! And i also promise that Mr Alien is on his way I love you guys!
LuckyB, were you taking a shot at the rapper Lupe Fiasco talks about in Hip Hop Saved My Life? but anyways, i was reading the comments as i listened and i think i'm missing something. the song isn't necessarily BAD, but it seemed kinda sucky to me, even with this new era of crank songs (which have actually been around for years in the streets) and such. I would rather listen to Soulja Boy over these three.
ko*starz!!!!!!!!!! my big cuzzo's!!!!!!!!!!!!! we takin it ova uh oh uh oh think i gotta message...its prolly one of yall niggas up there hatin @*#$! tho lol...CHICAGO STAND UP WE BACK ON THE MAP!!!!!!!
