With my last day of college just a few days away (thanks, thanks, gifts can be mailed to…) I’ve been doing a lot of Day Dreaming lately. It feels good to know that I’m not alone with my shift in focus, as Koncept is here to demonstrate today with his first solo feature on the Booth. Here the current member of the Brown Bag All-Stars waxes lyrical over his attempts to balance his passion for music with the need to survive; eventually facing the inevitable and coming back around to the craft that he knows so well. Backed by an equally impressive string-laced beat by Tranzformer, the Brooklyn emcee gives light to the struggle that modern day rappers face when deciding whether to hit the studio or night-light when it comes to making money that will put dinner on the table. I was familiar with Koncept, but not as a solo artist. I must say (or in this case write), I am glad that changed. He is the beneficiary here of some amazing production work from Tranzformer, whose been on the rise over the last year or so. Safe to say there is a lot more where this came from... their collabo freEP drops here at the Booth in January.

Koncept has been around, but not like this as a solo artist. And im really feelin this from him. He is doing great in this going solo. His flow on the mic is great with a nice energy. Also, his verse are very deep and i like to see that in artists these days.
The only thing i dont really like in this song is the production from Tranzformer. I just feel like its a perfect fit but just not my cup of tea. |

Nice beat, nice rhymes, nice concept (no pun intended). What more could you really ask for.
Second best "Day Dreaming" of all-time. Sorry, but it's hard to top Lupe and Jill Scott.

I been following Brown Bag for a minute. Never really heard Kon solo work but I'm pleased. Sounds like he would sound good on Rhymesayers

Every time I hear the title Day Dreaming, I think of the Lupe and Jill Scott classic, so I admit I start off biased. All that said, this track is dope. It's honest and introspective, from the trials of daily life to future hopes. I look forward to hearing more from him. Oh yeah, the production is smooth yet still knocks.

As Nathan S. mentioned, this does not stand up with Lupe's Day Dreamin', I couldnt see this getting playedalong with Lupe's classic.

The beat sounds like a uptempo sample of Kanye West's "Celebration". He was spitting some real stuff. Shout Out to Koncept.
