Though K’naan currently resides in Toronto, if you ask him which locale he represents, he’ll tell you he represents his birthplace of Somalia all the way. Like many other African nations, Somalia has had more than its fair share of problems, from Ethiopian invasions to the pirates of the surrounding Indian Ocean. K’naan has chosen to use his new single to represent his nation, seeking to bring awareness of its social and political ills and hopefully lead a movement for change. Produced by Direct Current, Somalia is an emotional track rife with cautious patriotism.  For more of K’naan’s message, check out his debut album, Troubadour, which will be available all over the world in the first quarter of 2009.

Nope- you're right, this is nothing to get excited about. I heard the beginning and I already knew I wasn't going to like it. The rapping ok but the beat is dumb. Pass. Wait, did he just say "F*ck the penis fluid" damn, lol. K, I'll give it a 2.

The beat wasn't bad. I would have liked some harder drums though. K'naan is not bad with the flow though. I liked the joint. "She got a gun, but could of been a model or physician". This was such a socially conscious joint. The hook was truth and K went so hard on the second verse...no lie!

If I had to pick one emcee who is completely under the radar in the US, who will make an impact on the game next year, K'naan would be it. His new album is FIRE.

Listen to the words...

Pay attention to the lyrics!...

"Some get high mixing coke & smokin gun powder sniffing"!!..."She gotta gun but could of been a model or physician"!!..."So what you know about the Pirates Terroriz the Ocean?"!!....."To never know a simple day without a big commotion"!!....SOMALIA

He is telling a story!!..It's not meant to be a club banger!!....This dude is the Black EMINEM!!....in my opinion!!...

This is different, not the typical K'naan song I guess. I like it, lyrics are good and the background music is great!

Never heard of this kat before. I like the production on this track. It has an earthy world-music feel to it. So the music is very fitting for the lyrics which I think tell a great story through a good flow. This guy is alright.
Oh wait. I saw his other pic. And I have listened to him on the Booth before. I never downloaded him though. I probably won't bump this one either - but I do like this musical creation. Its just not really my style.
