Glad to have Slim join the ever-growing list of emcees to be a part the series. The DMV has a whole lot of talent and its a pleasure to showcase it weekly.
As for the freestyle I am kinda/sorta on the fence between a 3 and a 4 rating. Slim's flow is unique, but his energy wavers throughout. The punchlines are there and the execution matches the production tempo great, but my interest wains slightly towards the end. Maybe our amazing Booth community feels differently? |

This track's downfall was the production. Slim came correct, but that production brought this track's value down a notch. For a freestyle this was pretty good. Z, allow me to make that decision for you...

I liked both the production and Slim's flow, but the in the end the track itself just seemed to not mesh as well as it could have.

Now I'm feelin this. Just wish they made the percussion a little clearer and pronounced, but its still bangin.

The production is unique with the African drums. Not sure if it would help him to bring this to a banger though. I think that if the production was different then it would be a lot better. He's got lines and flow for sure. Gets old towards the end, so I can't do many rotations.

I don't know. The production was pretty good, but I didn't think that Kingpen Slim's flow went with it.

Another track I thought could use some improvement on the production... Same with the verses too.

Good call The5JAY13. Maybe they didn't want to drown out King's vocals, but it would have been nice to sharpen those drums. Vocally King comes correct, definitely another worthy addition to the series.

Production is exotic. His flow was alright, goes well with the beat. Doesn't sound like something I would listen to though.

The production is an interesting listn and it grew on me over time. His lyrics are solid but this lacks the "wow" factor.

Good addition to the series. Def has that "Freestyle" feel that I listen for. Rewindable punchlines are a highlight as well.

A freestyle? please. Ya'll know this ain't a freestyle. And why all these DMV rappers sound like Wale? It's like they study his playbook when they stagger the last word in their rhymes. Do somethin original.

Decent lines but nothing really exciting. Also, production is simple but not effective. Can't go any higher than Okay.

@Hiphopcritic: I heard Wale too!
Slim had some witty lines but overall there really wasn't anything memorable about this freestyle. Seemed like his thoughts went from one thing to another just trying to make sentences with end rhyme. Definitely didn't leave me wanting a replay. |
