Never say the DJBooth staff doesn’t listen to the people. Only a couple months ago North Carolina representer King Mez made his debut on the Booth with his track Winter, and after y’all reacted like we released a Megan Fox sex tape we had to bring him back (So Long), back (919) and back yet again for his new track I’m Dreamin (Freestyle). Here the always vocally astute rhyme spitter takes the piano-laden Neptunes beat from Lupe’s I’m Beamin’ and makes the track completely his own with lines like: “Do me a favor, go grab me a laser / a grey moon raker for aimin’ at all the haters.” Hold on Mez, I’ll be right back with that laser. So how about it Booth? Did Mez deliver yet again, or has the king finally fallen from his throne? We’ll find out soon. I wonder if Lupe has heard Mez smash his record? You think? I would love to hear Mr. Fiasco's thouhgts on the NC native taking another giant step in the right direction.
I am a big fan of artists who freestyle over an industry beat, creating an identity of their own (though the record) in the process.

It's always fresh when someone drops a tight freestyle over an industry beat. I'm not sure he didn't outdo Lupe on this beat. "I'm Beamin" wasn't one of his best lyrical tracks. This is tight right here.

I can't go so far as to say that this is better than Lupe's version, but that's not a knock against Mez in the least. He's one of those rappers where you hang on every word (like Fiasco); I'm fu**king stoked for this album to drop. There's no way it's not going to be ill...if you followed my double negative there.

Dope! That's all I have to say. But can I say that I expect any less from Mez at this point? Nope. He & Donnie Vash keep growing & impressing me & everybody here in NC. It's a great privilege to work with these two talented artists. Can't wait for Mez & Commissioner Gordon's album to drop.

I have never heard King Mez before, but he absolutely killed this! I cannot go as far to say this is better than Lupe's, but that definitely does not bring this down one bit. Banger, might check out some more from this guy.

King Mez verse Lupe? If that ever happens you can't go wrong with picking someone. I'd go with Lupe cuz the dude has murdered songs for years. Mez is on the up tho. Dude has killed all his songs. Can't wait for an actual CD from him to drop
