The 148th entry in our DJBooth.net Freestyle Series comes courtesy of King Mez, the North Carolina native who earned reader acclaim for mixtape cuts Winter and So Long. On his brand new, exclusive 919 freestyle, the currently unsigned emcee flows over a RZA-produced instrumental originally featured on Ghostface Killah‘s Run. King Mez is currently working on The Paraplegics, a collaborative street album with producer Commissioner Gordon. In the meantime, fans should watch out for a forthcoming track with Nickelus F., as well as the official video for So Long.
Readers can download a copy of the newly-released In the Booth (Volume 3), featuring exclusive freestyles 61 through 90, here! Volumes one and two are available for download here and here.

Man, I forgot how much I miss the old non-R&B Ghostface Killah. I digress. King Mez ripped this freestyle to shreds. I would have liked for it to be a little longer, since he has legit skills to showcase, but beggars cannot be choosers (or something like that).

Loving the instrumental. Like DJ Z, I miss that non-R&B Ghost. OF course, the main point today is not the instru, but my homie Mez. Definitely never questioned his freestyle skills, having seen him rip beats live in the studio. But he definitely is improving. 919 all day, NC all day.

Yo, if you know me you know I love Ghostface (I've got his album covers hanging on my wall) so when I read that Mez was going in over Run I was honestly suspicious. Not just anyone can touch a beat like this.
Well Mez isn't just anyone. The man definitely does Ghost's legacy justice. I've got nothing but props for this one. |

The RZA beat ills something proper, and King Mez flows in a sheer head-nodding manner. Rotation fa sho!

The hometown hero does it again! I agree with Mr. Top Hat. This was a shear head-nodding flow. 919 is in the building.
