The two-man team of producer/DJ Double-0 and MC Naledge, otherwise known as Kidz In The Hall, had a very productive end to 2007. After wrapping up a nationwide tour with rap veteran Redman and releasing a mixtape with Cleveland’s Mick Boogie, the duo inked an independent label deal with Duck Down Records (who are responsible for the success of Sean Price). Gearing up for the release of their debut album, In The Crowd, the tandem has dropped their new single Drivin’ Down The Block. Unlike similarily titled joints that focus on “rollin on 26’s,” or “drippin’ with candy paint,” Naledge puts his college degree to work and goes heavy on the lyrics. Watch out for these kidz; they might only have a learners permit, but they sound like experienced vets.
Browse: I must disagree with you. Don't focus on the chorus or the song title, listen to the verses. The bars contain much more than you might assume. Listen again!
I saw these guys in concert in Dayton and partied with them that night...they are some cool ass dudes!! This song is tight, and Naledge tears it UP in concert! These guys are gonna blow up, watch out!
The beat is pretty cool on this track and I am sure any real MC would love to have a shot at it. They sound a little different, not sure how good they are going to do when It's all said and done, but this is a decent start.
They have released an album back in 06. It got some mainstream attention and got an XL in XXL. They are from chicago for those that asked. I was feeling their first album more than this, had more of a kanye sound.
when i first heard this song i was like eh, its different. Now I think its near classic.
It just hit number 6 on TRL so they have some mainstream appeal as well. This is proof hip hop is not dead.
