Kid CuDi - The Ruler & The Killer
Artist: Kid CuDi
Producer: Kid CuDi
Album: The Hunger Games Soundtrack
Label: Universal Republic
Most soundtracks are nothing more than an attempt to squeeze even more cash out of you than the $97 (approximately) you spent to see the movie, but every so often a soundtrack comes along that’s a must listen album in its own right: The Hunger Games Soundtrack is one of those rare albums. Boasting some of indie rocks most acclaimed groups, now that Kid Cudi’s officially launched his indie rock career with new album WZRD it’s only fitting that his new song The Killer & The Ruler are included alongside the likes of like Arcade Fire and The Decemberists. Killer & Ruler easily sounds like it could have been a WZRD bonus track, although here Cudi mans the production tip himself, crafting an even darker and more distorted guitar heavy instrumental than usual. As for his vocals, they’re delivered in his trademark slurred/mumbled/rapped/sung style, setting an appropriately “the hunter and the hunted mood”. While I can’t vouch for The Hunger Games movie (out this Friday, March 17), fans of dark rock like Killer & Ruler should find plenty more to love on the Hunger Games Soundtrack, due to drop on March 20.

Maybe if I was into "The Hunger Games" I would like this song more, but I just don't get it. This is a little to out there for me, but props for Cudi on getting on this soundtrack.

I kinda like the style of this right here. Kid Cudi still has the same swagger on a rock joint. I am an 80's baby and I like the 80's-rock type of sound to it. Definitely worthy of a listen or two.

I'm different. 'WZRD' is the best album of 2012 so far, not a 'hip-hop' album though, just an album but the BEST one. Followed by Schoolboy Q's. I just can't get enough of CuDi's new style, it's amazing. Same with this track.

I've heard much better from Kid Cudi, I hope this was made specific for the movie and he had little creative freedom here...
