If you can get over the fact that the name KiD CuDi sounds like the next Tickle Me Elmo or Furby, you might actually find yourself enjoying his music. The Cleveland rapper brings a unique sound to the game that is half Cool Kids, half Fela Kuti. His new track, Is There Any Love, will definitely catch you by surprise. Featuring bare-boned, quasi-Afrobeat production from Emile and some nice punchlines by CuDi and guest Wale, the song is raw but catchy. You’ll likely find yourself singing along to the hook, which features a sample from Trevor Dandy’s Gospel hit of the same title, by its second or third go-around. You’ll likely also be relieved to find out that his name is pronounced ‘Cutty’, and not ‘Cutie’. Is There Any Love will appear on his upcoming mixtape, A KiD Named CuDi Mixtape (July 17).

Not feeling the chorus at all, but the rest of the song is pretty good. Like the old school-type beat and its a head bobber. Keep it up KC. 3/5

This is different. His flow has a rythem to it that is very unique, borderline abstract. I'd like to hear more form the cat with the akward photo. lol WTF is up with that anyway? Nevertheless Wale does well on this. The hook does nothin 4 the track. And the drums are kinda boring. 3 stars for both MCs.

BDF44, I agree it is different. Sometimes different can be good, sometimes bad. This is neither; it fits right in between. CuDi and Wale both have mad talent on the mic, don't sleep.

I like the production. He's definitely unique, but the flow is a tad boring. I sort of like the hook, but the blend could have been executed better so it would flow smooth. Wale has been in my radar for a few weeks here. He did straight here. I'll throw this in rotation.

I was anxious as soon as i read about the music having a partial Afrobeat to it in the summary. Charlie there's nothing afrobeat or Fela about this track (not even half way, i'm a huge Fela fan so i should know...maybe African drums but definitely no Afrobeat) it's different, the beat is un apologetically boring which makes me pay more attention to the lyrics...it's straight!

Fam, it's so crazy how your opinion about a song changes over time. I just read what I said way back when I first heard this song...and now I'm like "WTFlip was I talking about. This joint is an ultimate classic, 5 stars, just like the "A Kid Named Cudi" mixtape.

Wale was a much better fit for this beat, i guess because there was a minor go go influence in the production, this could have been edited over a few more times and made great. Although its not a banger, regardless, it's a nice track in my book.
