Kid CuDi - Erase Me
Artist: Kid CuDi
Featuring: Kanye West
Producer: Jim Jonsin
Album: Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager
Label: Universal Republic
Kid Cudi owes much of his success to his widespread appeal. In addition to having hip-hop nation on lock, or at least the stoner portion thereof, Mr. Solo Dolo attracts no shortage of hipsters and electro-heads. It seems only natural then that Cudi jumps head first into full-on rock territory on his new single Erase Me, a guitar and drums laden track produced by consummate hitmaker Jim Jonsin, who says he sampled a Duran Duran record for the beat, but lord knows I have no idea which one (anyone?). Vocally Cudi doesn’t rap, he doesn’t even do that half-rap/half-sing thing, he just sings, and the results are either off-key in a good kind of way, or just bad (depending on your personal tastes). To keep hip-hop nation engaged Kanye West also puts in an appearance, although I’m not sure rhyming “Maria” with “diarrhea” is exactly his best work. Considering Erase Me and previous offering RevOfEv, we should be prepared for Cudi’s upcoming album Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager to sound like, well, anything when it drops in September.

I was excited when I saw who produced the record and who was featured on the record, but after listening a few times I cannot say I am the biggest fan. I'm not so sure this will break enough for this sophomore album to actually drop in September (unless another single is released).

Many people are going to be like ''this isn't what I expected from a Kanye feature", well I do agree with that, but this song is yet another unique sound from Cudi but he was trying to create a sound for his hip-hop and hipsters to enjoy. I was disappointed when I first heard this, but i listened to it for 5 days straight now and I really enjoy it. Just gotta take a few listens to break in, but I expect way bigger to come.

I was expecting something completely dope with this line up but it falls short and Kid Cudi's off tone singing just doesn't work. The hook is catchy can become catchy though

I may have a way different reaction than a lot of people, being a big fan of both hip-hop and rock, but i've been playing this nonstop for three weeks! The guitar sample is extremely catchy, and yeah, its no big secret Kid Cudi isn't the world's best singer, but would his songs be just as real as they are if he was. Yeezy does an adequate verse, not bad but nothing to write home about.
Banger for sure! |

This song is very catchy. I'm not a huge Cudi fan, but I am definitely feeling this song. That diarrhea line cracked me up.

A typical kid cudi track: unique and dope as f***. Give it a couple of listens, and it becomes one of those songs u cant stop listening to (at least for me). Classic!

This lineup surprised me but for the better. I wasn't expecting this production from Jim Jonsin but it's dope. Cudi and Kayne are always a great pair and tend to bring the best out of each other, can't wait for the album now.

after wat feels like 800 listens i (think) i have made up my mind on this song. not his best work, but its unique and memorable...to say the least. i think Cudi and Kanye could have crafted more emotional and better lyrical verses, but i cant say i have a problem with em. im feelin a 3.5 right now, but there is still a good chance this will grow on me big time so i gotta, w/out question round up.

This song is cool, its different. Its got a fresh vibe....I think its a little average but I'm sure it would grow on me. Kanye didnt really do anything for me on this record. Looking foward to Man on The Moon 2!

OK first things first. This track is really bumpy, both with the intro and Kudi's vocals. Kanye wasnt really needed with his wack verse (yes I said WACK VERSE). I dont know, I'm really tempted to give this a few more plays because the production as a whole package really draws me in.

Wow, Jim Jonsin is diverse. This leans in to his early works of "Let's Go".
Kanye murdered that verse. Wow. Well, at least Cudi doesn't AUTO-TUNE. Banger. This works for him. Radio appeal for sure. |

This is the second time I’ve heard this song and I’ve came to the conclusion that this song is amazing. Kanye and Cudi should do a whole album together.

Well, to be honest, when I saw feat. Kanye West, I expected a lot from this track, and got disappointed. But after few listenings I liked it and it's on repeat since then.

After a few listens I appreciated the attempt by Cudi, but I didn't think I was enjoying this track that much. And then last night I made a midnight trip to the fridge and found Erase Me stuck in my head. I guess I subconsciously liked it a lot more than I thought.
I think it's safe to say all bets are off for Man on the Moon II. This album could have monks chanting over ukuleles and I wouldn't be surprised. |

I like Cudi's vocals and the production, it's different for a hip-hop record, but it's good. Kanye's verse was average, he can do better. Overall, i like it.

I'm definitely feeling the production and the intro by Kudi was nice. There is a nice rock-n-roll vibe to the track. Kudi is pretty cool and Kanye was decent on here too. Definitely on rotation, but just shy of a Banger. Really close though.

As a CuDi loyalist, any track he comes out with goes right onto the ipod regardless of how much I like it on the 1st listen. With that said, I wasn't initially blown away by either the beat or vocals on this track.

Okay. I've had this track for a solid few weeks now. At first, I thought it was a legit banger. I like the hook a lot. But the hook is about all that is working for this song. Kanye's verse is just stupid. And when you combine the verses and the hook, the song doesn't even really make any sense. Regardless, this track is decent. It is a huge disappointment given the line up and producer, but still. Decent track that I've had in rotation. Definitely not going to bring a lot of attention to his album however.

Im a huge cudi fan but the first time I heard this I felt it was a bit too generic.after listening to it a couple more times I find it really catchy which is really the job of a radio single isn't it?

THIS SONG IS SOLID. KID CUDI DID IT AGAIN THIS TIME WITH ANOTHER CREATIVE OUTPUT AND THIS IS WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THIS GUY, HE CONSTANTLY INTRODUCES NEW STYLES AND WONDERFUL TUNES. THIS IS NOW ON REPEAT AND IM ASSUMING IT WILL BE STUCK IN MY HEAD FOR THE NEXT 2 WEEKS. 5 stars deserves all the credit.

This is just OK, and I am usually feelin all KuDi tracks. It's alright, but doesn't have the same energy and vibe as some of his other songs. And the hook (production and singing) is corny.

i actually all of this song, EXCEPT for KANYE's verse. It actually brought me down. His lyrics were damn near terrible, and seriously, if it would have been another rapper who said these exact same lyrics everyone would have been ranting about how cudi shouldn't have let that rapper be on this song. Kanye's verse sucked. Point blank. Cudi's part(s) were nice though. ANd jim Jonsins production was surprising but refreshing.
