Kid CuDi - I Do My Thing
Artist: Kid CuDi
Featuring: Snoop Dogg
Producer: Austin “Watts” Garrick / Rashad “Ringo” Smith
Album: Cudder: The Revolution of Evolution
Label: Universal Republic
It’s hard to still consider Scott Mescudi a lonely stoner when I know I’ll be hearing his music in the Savannah bars I’ll be hitting up next week. (Spring Break, who’s down!?) Despite his rise to fame, however, there’s still no one in the game who sounds anything like him. Today Cudi’s at it again, along with everyone’s favorite canine emcee Snoop Dogg, for I Do My Thing, a track originally recorded during his Man on the Moon sessions but now rumored to be included on his highly anticipated sophomore album. Produced by Watts Garrick and Ringo Smith (of Tumblin’ Dice Productions), not Dr. Dre as some have reported, this song keeps it simple, revolving around the simple pleasures in Cudder’s world: shining, rollin, sippin, smoking - he’s got a tough life. If you liked hearing Cudi and Snoop do their thing, you can also satiate your appetite with That Tree, the last track from the same duo that are keeping the Booth too smoky to see today, brah, and of course keep it locked for all the latest.

Cudi is one of my favorite artists out there and this song proves why. He just has a knack for making quality music. That beat is simple but bumpin, and Cudi sounded great. It just had a sick vibe and Snoop's verse was real solid. Cudi is one creative dude. Can't wait for this album.

Cudi comes out with a blog explanation today about the origins of this song. Honestly, though, what Cudi fan cares when it was created or what the intentions are for it? Bottom line is that the man's music has a cult-like following and this won't do anything to slow it down.
PS. Snoop was not needed on this. Sorry, Uncle Doggy Dogg. |

i notice everyone goes to the major artist...we have to give our independent artist feedback...so they can stop being so wack...now for the song...cudi is one of the weirdest rappers in the mainstream...and he is slowly growing on me...hook is garbage...snoop flow is right...nothing creative but i don't always look at that...this is just average too me...sorry!

This is dope, and i actually thought Snoop was a nice change of pace on his verse. This is a lil better than "That Tree."

Now this is a good song from Cudi, production is tight & Cudi does his thing over it. Snoop probably wasnt needed, though I dont think he took anything away from a pretty dope track. This is definatly better then the pairs original collaboration.

@ Dj Kidd & everyone else who notices I've only been rating some artists lately - I've been just busy with a lot of sh*t lately and I still listen to most of the songs just don't always rate them. Once I get through this phase I'll get back to rating all the songs again because I know the underground/independent songs are just as important.

CuDi is so constant. This is my favorite song by him along with Pursuit of Happiness. CuDi and Snoop are polar opposites, other than them rapping about weed, but sound great together. Dope record, hope this is off his next album.

He's taking his music to another level with the rap features and more mainstream . Getting snoop dogg is a good look . The hooks simple thats why i think i like it so much Cudi is the man

Wasn't used on MOTM for a reason, good for a holdover until Cudder but Snoop doesn't improve the track

I was feeling this track for the most part but I could not ride with it all the way through. Guess I need to get in that zone I suppose.

I see where Cudi's going with this one. It wouldn't have worked on MOTM, but it's definitely good enough to include on an album (like his next one). I could have taken or left Snoop on this one - who would I have replaces him with? Redman. I know it sounds crazy, but the contrast between their styles would be dope...or disastrous. Either or. Let's find out.

another snoop and cudi collabo? im cool with that. has a nice feel to it, cudi's out of this world feel is starting to get to me more than it used to. snoop was tight and if the hook was better it would be a banger no doubt. good effort!

CuDi is on my "short" list...Snoop's 16 doesn't do anything for this, but I'll take it.

Does Kid Cudi only make songs about weed these days? Day n’ Night seems a long time ago now. I think Snoop overshadows him on this song, but at least it’s better than That Tree.

Love Cudi, he's one of my favorite mainstream artists. I can't wait for his sophmore album, if it's anything like Man on the Moon, than I know it will be a classic. And I'm glad that Dre's NOT going to produce the album, it wouldn't be Kid Cudi to me, BANGER!

I do not and will not understand the fasination with Kid CuDi, hes average at best and the hook is crap "i smoke, i drink, i do my thing"...thats very nice. Rappers on this site are murkin the mic everyday and they aren't going to get half the ratings and reviews this song wiill.
P.S snoop: WTF are you doing? Get back on your grind and go hard like you used to! |

This is def a banger on any scale. Kudi is def an artist that has a lot of talent. The beat on this is soo good and kudi has flawless flow as per usual, and snoop adds his usual flare to an already great track. I hope this makes a splash. @Djkidd I give love to the mixtape guys too its just not all the up and comers have the same production. so yes, most of us support those newcomers but kudi is there and we want to keep him there.

i'm likin the production a lot, and definitely feelin CuDi & Snoop on the same track and snoops' solid verse, but i think that the hook could've been slightly better so i'm gonna say that this is a banger.
