In order to maintain a successful relationship with your partner, both parties need to put in an equal amount of effort. Unfortunately for singer Keri Hilson it didn’t work out that way; on the Atlanta native’s “official” debut single, Energy, a highly-charged Hilson explains that she has put forth way too much “oomph” and received far too little in return. Regardless, as long as this talented singer sticks with her music, relationship issues should be the last thing on her mind. With quality production assistance from Timbaland, Danja, and The Clutch on her forthcoming debut album, In A Perfect World (set for release on September 23), her career might be the best way to finally see a return on that spent energy.
Wow, Keri Hilson is that deal! I underestimated her actual vocal skill from hearing her on the Timbo track. This is solid. The Runaways production is awesome as well. I'm looking forward to hearing more from her. She's a solid artist.
Synth maybe? I think that's the word. I noticed that as well...I agree, it sort of took away from the overall feel of the track. Still a good one to say the least
always loved whens he was featured on rappers songs and shes a great solo artist as well it seems, great singer, huge potential for some great hits from her
you know I like to point out when a woman looks good, an dthat she DOES!! This song is a good single for her to have on her own. Its very NOW! ya know? Her vocals are very clear and pure. I didn't know she had pipes like this. This song does her justice.
Ya know, ever since Cheri Dennis' "In and Out of Love" finally dropped on February 26, I've been looking for a new artist to massively promote. Let's just say my construction crew has simply altered the "DROP CHERI'S ALBUM ALREADY!" sign, replacing the "CH" with a "K". She's come correct on the feature singles, from Xzibit's "Hey Now (Mean Muggin')" (RIP to X's son, by the way), to Lloyd Banks' "Help" and Rich Boy's "Good Things," and this is no exception. Can't help but notice the blank part though (maybe she's waiting for a rapper to throw in a guest verse-Young Son, maybe?), but it all comes together great, from the Runawayz (Ryan, Rico, Sam, Wayne, and Louis) beat to the lyrics to Keri's vocals. When September 23 comes, Timbo & Polow (her co-signers) should look for great critical reviews and album sales-she's the total package for big sales! (on the looks end, anyone who's seen the Love in This Club video already knows). Wait a minute, did I just break Michael Hannah bka Young Son's record for longest post?
Oh yeah another hit! This song is pure energy, like the title itself says! I've known Keri through "The Way I Are" by Timbaland and I immediately thought her voice was beautiful. I like her tone colour and this is very important for a singer to me. She is solid and has talent!
umm... i'm not a fan of sorrowful songs... this is just depressing why would someone listen to this?... doesn't it make you depressed?... overall, this is straight... nothing special... maybe there should be a different theme to the song...
dis is ok...not da best ive heard from her but i can c it goin places for her....my favs from her include: "where did he go?" and "love ya"...i give dis one a (3.5) but i think she is extremely pretty and ive been waitin for her to come out for a while now...dj astro: if u saw da "love in this club" video u should kno dat she's really pretty but i feel ya dat ant her best pic...lmao m burmy...u RARELY make comments anymore
Keri you know I love ya, but c'mon you have Polow, Timbo and Danja in your boat and you coming with THIS?? No way!! I still dig her voice and singing and the song ain't really bad now. But it sounds way too clean, it sounds even kinda forced, also too radio friendly for my taste. I wanted something with edges, some new sounds that ain't out yet. I could go on the whole day now...damn
my favorite song with keri hilson was easily "Miscommunication" on Timbaland's album. I always thought her voice was great, even though it was drowned out in "The Way I Are". i like the song, the beat is actually pretty good. As long as she doesn't release a club joint (or atleast not a corny one) she could easily top a few female singers i know. It helps that her name has been buzzing for quite awhile now, as well. It seems that every song she has been involved in are about more than what you hear on an average basis. The two i mentioned as well as the chorus of "Good Things" prove my point... I didn't pay much attention to "Help" so i can't say that one for sure.. hopefully her album is as diverse as her guest spots have been so far... Polow has proved he can do the slow production she needs, and all Timbaland needs to do is give another "Miscommunication" (or Elevator?, its a thought)-esque track for her to blow over and she'll have a classic album.
this song is nice definitely not somethin that i would expect her to do. I've always liked what keri brought to the table and as mentioned she made that lloyd banks song help. I think she will be successful if she is promoted well and has good single selection.
I'm a big fan of Keri. Her vocals are great but I'm not feeling this song too much. It isn't her, its the song. I'd listen to this but I wouldn't play it on a consistent basis. I'm looking forward to hearing more from her though.
You know. Keri Hilson, Just got's 'it'. I think that as a producer for many well known artists; Britney Spears, Omarion, and some others. She has been in the business a while, I believe I read her Bio and it said she has been producing since 99' Which when you think about it is very smart. She knows the game, and Im siked for her to get to the point where she is Beyonce Status. She sure has it, and I believe that in the single, "Scream" She showed us she can outsing, Nicole Scherzinger fo' sho'. So yes, this is a good single.
I've been following Keri Hilson since her feature on "After Love" from Diddy's Press Play album. That song is amazing because it oozes emotion and passion. That's what I love about Keri Hilson. She's definitely showing some more of that same passion on this new single. I think it does have potential to be a hit, but the beat isn't that hot to me. The lyrics save the song. These types of songs have seemed to be more here thing than the party tracks (although she's not bad at those either). I'm definitely on the Keri Hilson train and I can't wait to hear her first album. She's an amazing singer and songwriter.
Now that this song is in rotation at radio and on TV, I'm going out on a limb and predicting that this will reach the top 5 on the Billboard singles chart. Remember who predicted it first.....!!!!!! And when it does, I'll be right back on this forum to say "told ya so!"
I REALLY LIKE DIZ SONG BCUZ ME N MY MAN R NOT PUTIN MUCH N OUR RELATIONSHIP I'M PUTIN N LESS THAN HE IZ. HE IZ PUTIN N A WHOLE LOT SO ITS TAKIN MOST OF MY ENERGY....
