Kelly Rowland - Lay It On Me
Artist: Kelly Rowland
Featuring: Big Sean
Producer: Hit-Boy
Album: Here I Am
Label: Republic Records
Fresh off the success of Motivation, her highest-charting U.S. single to date, Kelly Rowland is under pressure to deliver an equally fresh follow-up. If tentative selection Lay It on Me (previously leaked to the ‘net in an incomplete version, but presented here in its finished form) is any indication, the Destiny’s Child alum isn’t taking any chances—from the amorous theme, to the club-ready beat, to the high-profile guest feature, the record has all the ingredients of a club/radio smash. Hit-Boy handles production duties, blending sizzling synths with delicate ivory-tinkling as Rowland lets a lucky man know exactly what she wants from him. Playing the fella in question, Finally Famous fast-riser Big Sean proves more than happy to oblige, lacing the front and back with racy double-entendres: “My d*ck curiosity, ‘cause it killed the cat… and satisfaction brought it back.” So, Booth readers, lay it on me (your opinion, that is): has Rowland got another hit on her hands? If you like what you’re hearing, don’t miss the rest of what Kelly Rowland’s got in store on her Here I Am LP, scheduled to hit record store shelves and online retailers on July 26.

"Lay it on Me" is not "Motivation", but that shouldn't stop this record from following-up the smash single on the charts.
Kudos to Sean - this proves his debut release success is no fluke; his has now entered that "lets give HIM on the record for a hit" status. |

Definitely agree with DJ Z, it is not Motivation but that doesn't mean this can't top the charts...I'm still rooting for you Kelly, and Big Sean, need I say anything?

This track is more instant to me than Motivation was, I think it can come close to the former's success. (I highly doubt it will achieve higher, Motivation did surprisingly well...)

Reminds me of something Rihanna would do. Has potential to scrape the top half of the Billboard 100... Catchy, but I also doubt it can top 'Motivation's chart position.

Love the bouncy and radio friendly beat. It got a very varm and summe like rvibe and should be played at cocktails parties all over. Big Sean did nothing for me though.

Agree with dillon_68, 'Motivation' did surprisingly well and this is a nice follow-up... Big Sean's verse works nicely too. For some reason, can't quite muster up a 4 though

Everybody has said the same thing, and I can't help but agree. It's not Motivation, but still a VERY solid track, and I won't mind it burning up the charts.

Well Of Course It Wont Be Motivation. Songs Like That Only Come Around Once On An Album LOL. But, I Like This Song...Its Nice Layed Back And Defintiely A Summer Jam.But To Me It Sounds Alot Like Nicole Scherzinger's "Right Here".

Can't say I'm the hugest fan, mostly because of the production, but this track definitely has the potential to be a bigger hit than motivation. This track will likely get airplay beyond the hip-hop/R&B stations.

This will definitely get lots of airplay. I'm still hoping for more "Motivation" sounding tracks from her in the future.

This seems like it would get blown up more quickly than "Motivation." Even though it is hard to compare the two songs because they have such a different feel, I have to say this one resonated with me much more quickly than "Motivation." Having said that "Motivation" grew on me and is now one of my favorite tracks out. Good to see Kelly doin her thing, get it girl!

This and that Nicole Scherzinger song sound like songs Rihanna passed on for hits like "Rude Boy" and "What's My Name". Kelly is capable of much better music.
