Like our own Richard predicted (and the Booth community affirmed) when we featured the New Boyz’ You’re A Jerk, ‘jerkin’ has become hip-hop’s next big dance fad. Like any other trend, the “jerk” movement is dependent on major co-signs. No need to hide underground, jerks; well-known film and TV actress KeKe Palmer has jumped on the bandwagon, and she’s about to “serve” all y’all with her Super Jerkin skills. Even frequent heartbreak-pop producer Toby Gad (Big Girls Don’t Cry, If I Were A Boy) joins in, contributing an uptempo beat (co-produced by Palmer) with the potential to inspire a YouTube dance contest. Even if ‘jerkin’ isn’t your style, you can expect plenty more uptempo and slower jams on KeKe’s currently-untitled sophomore album (and Interscope debut), which does not currently have a release date.

When Richard said JERKIN would become HUGE in his New Boyz post, I questioned it. Sorry - its my Chicago roots (I was pessimistic). However, I have to admit that this KeKe Palmer record is HOT. I would jerk to this banger. Toby Gad did his thing behind the boards.

Another jerk song not sure what to say about this..the beat is catchy and she actually has some pretty good rhymes. I can spin it every once in a while

The production has that nice dance feel to it, then add the hook and I can see this track gettin a lot of people "jerkin" to it. I didn't love her verses and the sample or w/e that is got weird in the middle, but this is still a hot dance joint.

I usually have can deal with most of the songs on this site, but these pop-dance joints really aren't doing it for me. I'd rather hear a high-energetic club banger or at least something that is catchy to me. Sorry.

I like it, but I would take it much more seriously if it wasn't Keke Palmer. I can't grasp her as a singer, she should stick to acting. Production is fire though.

I haven't listened to the song yet...but I will. I'm in the studio right now...but I have to say, this JERKIN bizness is really awkward. Just think about some of the lyrics on that New Boyz song. Dude said something like "I took my shirt off and we all started jerkin".

This song is the BOMB!!! I saw it up on youtube like 2 days ago now it has like 16,000 hits! All of those Jerkin tracks have that same vibe, I say give Lil Keke some credit she is from Chi-Town the home of Kanye, Common, I hate to say it but my boy R.Kelly!! This girl is bringing it give credit where credit is due I think she got a hit!

I pretty much hate everything with snaps in it. This is too basic, minimalistic to me. Lacks melody. And all that swagg talk is annoying anyway. Not feeling it. But big ups to my german fellow Toby Gad! Humble guy.

I just now listened to this, and this ain't bad at all. Really digging it. Way better than the New Boyz jerk song. For some reason, a female doing a jerk song is way more appealing (lol...not like that). But yeah. Plus, Keke a.k.a Ms. True Jackson needs to come holler at me in about 2 years, 2 months and 23 days. LOL.

With G-Stan on this one and I can't get over the fact that it's calledd "jerkin", I'm sorry but I must not be mature enough or something.
But anyway song wise this was garbage, I didn't feel any energy, just alot of jerkin. |

I think she's on point and her direction is clear. She's a kid listen to this track she having fun.
Matter of Fact this is a DJ song watch me drop this beat lol. Real talk if my lil one didnt hit me up to pick up Keke's first album I would have never knew she had one on Atlantic. They did a f$#k up job promoting her and her album was pretty decent. |
