When three of the top executives in the music industry partake in a high-stakes bidding war for an artist’ services, they must be good, right? Well, that is exactly what Diddy (Bad Boy), Jimmy Iovine (Interscope) and Jay-Z (then, Def Jam) did just last year when teenage singing-sensation Karina Pasian arrived on their radar. Though he has since stepped down as the President of Def Jam, Jay-Z offered Pasian a “seven-figure deal,” according to the artist’s camp, with her debut album set to arrive in stores this year. To kick off the project, Pasian has released the buzz single 16 At War. Written and produced by en vogue tandem, The-Dream and C. Tricky Stewart, Pasian convincingly tackles the issues of stress and peer pressure at the age of 16.
This song did not show her off at all, she just kept saying 16, 16, 16... Beat was a bit generic and it's a track that I can't really relate to, so it's hard to get into it. Just think she should've chosen something better to debut.
You are right Obecalp. I was trying to find out what they saw in her, but I didn't feel, see, or hear anything extraordinary from her. I will wait for another song to assess her talent.
It sounds like she has a really really consistent voice, with great control. I can see why they bid on her. Unfortunately, I think this song will probably only be good for 16-yr olds. I am not really feeling the overall flow of the song. I don't think the beat fits the song she is singing...But, I still want to hear another track from her, so keep it comin Z!!!
i like it...u gotta see everything from a different perspective...she's putting emotion into this...kinda...but when i was 16 i went thru hella bad times...so even tho i'm a guy, i can kinda relate
I felt as though the song wasnt too great
If she really is this amazing talent that came onto the radar, she isnt really showing it in this song.
The beat is good though.
Overall 3 stars
wow the beat is too slow for her singing, the hook is annoyin, her verses sound forced to a metronome... it has potential, someone tell her to re-record it
Ya'll all stupid. People who are rating this song are the reason people with good songs with good content never get a certain buzz cuz you dissect the song musically and disregard the topic she was talking about. Also, not to mention the dummies on a music review site talking about people's pictures or ignorant stuff. This song gets 5 stars cuz it's genius, her voice is on point and it's all around good. Hopefully she'll be around a long time and then y'all will probably hop on the bandwagon like the followers you are.
i heard other track from KP she can blow, n has great vocals almost surpasses the young teen tiffany evans...And i applaud her for the concept its diffrent n relatable. love the beat n lyrics but this song doesnt show much of her vocal power i think their teasin the fans wit this then have her come wit a banger.
I've heard her sing and she got the voice. I like the song and understand the message. It feels a little safe for her but it's good. The only thing about this song is that it'll only related to teens and somehow please parents who want their kids to hear it. Overall its a good song.
I agree with DJ Blaze, she does sound very controlled and consistent. Idk about worthy of a 7 figure deal, but she definitly has a lot of potential, but doesn't sound THAT unique to me besides the fact shes only 16 and sounds like this. I'm sure they wanted her knowing she'd sell huge with the young women who are the ones who buy albums now a days. I wanna see her on a song with a rapper.
this song actually has a topic thats not bout booty shakin, n girls can actually relate to! (which is really hard to find in songs these days) i think u might be another india arie, keep it up gurl!
This girl is a rare talent. She is singing about the things that she is dealing with as a young woman. It's about time someone is thinking about the things that young girls are facing right now. The song grows on you, when I first heard No One by Alicia Keys I was not impressed but the song is catchy. Give her a chance and you will see the girl can definetly blow. She is also an accomplished Pianist and Ballerina

This was so deep!!!! She is 16 goin through some stuff!!! For all dumb-ass people who is lookin at jus her pic is jus stuped as f**k!!!! half of yall are like 21 or 25 lookin at that girl and that is some childish ass s**t!!! it is time to act your age and stop actin 16!!!! howeva...she is a cutie!!! by tha way im 17 and i can relate!!!
I'M 29 AND HAD MY BABY WHEN I WAS SIXTEEN, SO WHEN I HEARD THIS SONG IT BROUGHT TEARS TO MY EYES...BEING THAT AGE WITH SO MUCH PEER PRESSURE, A POOR ENVIRONMENT, AND NOT MUCH TO LOOK FORWARD TO, ITS ABOUT TIME SOMEONE SINGS ABOUT IT!--ITS ROUGH!
16 @ war is very inspiring and is a song that a lot of teenagers in urban neighborhoods can relate to! Karina is very talented so as long as she keeps making positive music, i'll keep supporting her. Check out this new fansite for the talented, Karina Pasian... http://www.karina-p.fan-sites.org
MAN... I LOVE THIS SONG!!! JUST LISTEN TO THE LYRICS. SHE'S TELLIN A STORY AND SHE'S RIGHT. WHY DO SISTA'S H8TE EACH OTHER AND WHY AS WE BLAKC WOMEN ARE BEING DISRESPECTED BY OUR BROTHAS??? SO, I LOVE THIS SONG!!
Personally I don't agree with these comments. If people who have a natural ear for music would notice this song actually showed a true artist. She has a wonderful tone and great control over her voice. Whoever has been training her has done a A1 job. I can see why the bids on her were so strong because the potential of this girls voice is ridiculous. So I give the song 4 four because I love it. And no you dont have to be 16 to feel it. It shows the struggles of teenage life where she comes from, and how no one notices it. Basically she is only 16 fighting for war and its not far. I remember those days nad everyone else should too. Its not easy out here.
This song is about to be a hit in Philly because its what goes on here. Everything from the disrespect to the bad air and dirt filled wind that blows in your face is the plain filthy truth. People that live in, work in a city will find this song all to familliar with what goes on everyday there. The song has a different feel compaired to the typical hip hop songs out there right now. For those of you near Philly this week on Power 99FM Karina was on the air in their studio. She can sing in seven different languages. She can also play Piano. Point is she is much more than your average singer. What do those of you on this board from urban areas think of the lyrics? Are they putting us on blast?
This is an example of what I wish my sister would listen to instead of soulja boi! A beautiful positive young lady with a voice and a message to match! Props!
THE SONG IS GOOD FOR SIXTEEN YEAR OLDS!!! HOPEFULLY THE NEXT TRACK WILL BE BETTER ABD OUTSTREACH TO EVERYONE!!! I THINK THE MESSAGE IN THE SONG IS GREAT.

I see Karina has haters all ready!! This girl is a great singer and i love this song!! She is singing from a 16 year old perspective. I am 15 and i can even relate to this...don't try to bring her down...she's trying to start off her career=)
